Will the Black Mesa be a competitor to EP3?

Hell, we’re going on 5 years now waiting for EP3. And I’ve been playing Half Life for a lot longer than 7 years. I’m as anxious as anyone about Black Mesa, but HL3 is my first priority!

IF they released on the same day I’d ru down to Fry’s, buy a new computer, run back, install BM on yhat computer, then pkay them at the same time. But thats just me.

I would get a new machine, and play HL3 first. And if you are asking why, It’s because Black Mesa is just HL redone while HL3 is the next part of the epic saga. Not that I am not anxious to play Black Mesa, I just want HL3 more.

If they were released on the same day, I would definitely play EP3 first. No offense to the devs but Valve did leave the game on a cliffhanger again, and I already know what happens in Half-Life 1.

I would play Black Mesa first because HL is one of my all time favorites, and to play it again as if it was made during HL2’s era would be an experience unrivaled for me.

I love Half-Life and it’s story, but I’ve always preferred HL1’s gameplay, setting and arsenal to HL2’s. I just found it a lot more fun. Of course in HL2 and it’s timespan the story and characters are way better, though that’s a seperate thing for me.

Of course I will buy EP3 - but BMS will be free, so why the hell wouldn’t i play it first?

I’ll download and play BM while everybody is busy playing Ep3 then I’ll replay the saga and finish with Ep3.

By the time I get my hands on it, I’m sure Valve will make a purple box with Ep3, Portal 2 (or 3), TF3 and CSGO.

Man, that joke about different colored boxes just keeps getting funnier.

valve can’t count to 3 so when CS:GO is out people realize it’s actually Half-Life: Combine Sacrifice, Gordon in the[/size] Overworld

Hath Luther 2: Epilogue 3

Had Lust 2: EPeen 3

Ham Licker 2: Evil Pilgrims 3

No contest. HL3 naturally? But My goal is to play the mod when it comes out and then play the released games chronologically and hope that the next installment would come soon after.

Even if they were released the same day – could you really call them ‘competitors’? I mean…you’d pay for Episode Three. Even if you played Black Mesa first, Ep3 won, it took your money.

I’m going to play HL1, HL2, HL2e1, HL2e2, HL2e3 regardless of which is released first so I have a up to date memory of absolutely everything.

well given the length of time ep 3 is taking to release, im guessing it will be an epic game, To celebrate that though i would first play BM, then HL2 then HL2: ep 1 then HL2: ep 2 THEN ep 3.

Also it would be very clever of valve to release ep 3 after BM because i know that when this awesome mod is released it will make steam news and restart the HL fever that we all experienced while anticipating HL2, making sales of ep 3 be phenomenal.

Also, wouldnt it be funny if valve hasnt released ep 3 for the very reason mentioned above  well funny in a sick and twisted way but still funny…

Pretty much. Case closed.

If they come out on the same day your doing too many drugs. I am not saying you should stop using. That would depend on the consequences with respect to your well being and whether your whacked out gourd can fabricate a worthwhile pseudo gaming experience.

I’d play BM first because (and don’t hurt me) I have never played the original HL. As interested as I am to see how Valve continues, I know I’m missing a lot having never played the first.

It isn’t much on Steam, but why pay for it when you can get a higher quality more up-to-date version for free with BM?

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
