Looking at the weapons, environments, and NPCs of BM comparatively to HL2, there are some pretty drastic differences and improvements. Do you think, after BM’s release, anyone will attempt to remake HL2 to reach the standard of BM?
Probably after Episode 3 comes out, or whenever we get a new engine.

I think it’s really not necessary for a while, HL2 doesn’t look that bad yet unless your making comparisons to a games like Crysis 2.
No, Half-Life’s standard is only it’s best version of itself. But BM might actually fill that role…
HL2 doesn’t look bad, just like HL1 doesn’t look too bad either. But BM looks better than both. HL2 has some pretty unrealistic environments, sequences, and concepts, but it is in no way bad. Many of the NPC, weapon, and prop models look pretty bad, but only when compared to BM.
These are the same improvements that BM is making to HL1, so why wouldn’t someone improve HL2 the same way?
Half-Life 2 is still a deep detailed world and still looks great even compared to many games today. I say it’s unnecessary until maybe once another 10 years or more have passed. THEN people should start remaking it like what BM is doing for HL.
Maybe once the engine has been updated… a lot. Maybe the ep3 engine or the one after that would be new enough, whatever that is.

Did you ever hear about Cinematic Mod? Try this! There is no need to remake again HL 2 series. :freeman:
Cinematic Mod isn’t that good. Ugly models, bloated with unnecessary features and gigantic textures that changes drastically the original feel of HL2.
A good mod to HL2 is the HL2 Update. At the moment the only “remake” that HL2 needs, making it on par at least with HL2:EP2.
No. I must say that the world design of HL2 is one of the most empty and dull ones I have ever seen.

In a lot of parts, it was pretty dull, except for the scene where you first walk out of the trainstation. I thought that was pretty nice

Nah he had it right, he was clearly talking about BM being so good that Valve will be like “OH EM GEE! DEY R MAKIN UZ LOOK BAD!” and then they ban any future remakes from happening.

Someone tried in Crysis. They failed.
-While we are on the topic of remakes I would want the older total war games to be remade by modders or The creative assembly.
-On the subject of Half Life, I want to see it redone in a few years by valve with better tech and released for free with some extra hats for team fortress 2.
