Of course side-by-side, Black Mesa will triumph graphically, and apsects like reskinned models and excellent voice acting will blow me away, but I’m can say that Half-Life will always have a little spot in my heart, and my hard drive.

Let yourself do this at least once, in some far away gas stop somewhere. It’ll feel soooooo good, and it’ll be guilt-free!

Half life 1 is an awesome game, a classic, and it will always have a reserved place on my hard disk

Black mesa will come as close to half life for me but not replace it will become apart of my half life series but i will probably play it alot more than that of the original hl

If Black Mesa is a true recreation of Half-Life (Who am I kidding, it will be!) it will replace Half-Life for me. If you look at it, Black Mesa is Half-Life, but was made by fans who have spent around five years creating it, and what could be better than fans making something that they enjoy that is impossible to go wrong with. They have had a community rise around an independent mod of a 1998 video game, and even with seemingly insubstantial release dates, most have stayed and still enjoy discussing even sometimes discussed to death attributes of the mod. I have full reason to believe this mod will be Half-Life and more, Half-Life with the care and devotion that only fans can put into it.

Black Mesa can be the true recreation of Half-Life, but the original version of 1998 is one of the best games ever created. It’s hard to say that BM will replace the original HL.

BM is the winner. It has good graphics and gameplay where HL just has good gameplay. I will just play BM. HL has no more use to me seeing that I have played all the good HL1 mods already as well as completing Half Life 1 itself. So as soon as I download/install Black Mesa, I will put Half Life into the not installed section of games on Steam and click the Launch button for Black Mesa to begin the epic adventure. Besides that, I will be running Windows 7 and I’m pretty sure that Half Life 1/ Half Life: Source will not work on Windows 7 anyway so Black Mesa is the permanent replacement for Half Life on my Windows 7 gaming desktop.

I’m counting on it.

I played HLDM for 6 years, running a dedicated server for 4 of them. When HL2 was released, I was very disappointed with the deathmatch. I’m ready for BMDM.

HL does work on W7. It’s no different than Vista in its core.
