Will Black Mesa replace Half Life 1 for you?

If that’s the case then you forgot Decay.

Only if he is talking about his PS2, not his PC. On the PC, you would also have to remember Uplink.

Brief but wonderful Uplink.

Brilliant demo; lets you get all into it and then >>>BAM<<< “NOW YOU FIGHT GARG!” …then fades to black during the fight.

“Game Over, now go buy it ya deadbeat.”

They just don’t make 'em like that anymore.

As for BM replacing HL… there’s a quality in HL like the classic Godzilla movies or the Evil Dead series that just can’t be replaced. While BM may surpass it’s predecessor in realism—maybe even in playability—there is no replacement for good ol’ Half-Life. I will treasure my original Sierra Studios CD for many years to come.

EDIT: Release Black Mesa!

Uplink Extended- Lets you kill the garg, and do a bit more fighting before it ends. Also, better mapping.
And fyi, Decay is also for PC now, it has been ported.

Not counting HL2. I meant the 3… well 4 due to Decay, games that took the world by storm in the 90’s.

EDIT:

I really wouldn’t say that in the forums. Please read FAQ before posting.

Please, no!

You can only remake a Valve game on a Valve engine. Everything else would simply suck! Crysis has bad gameplay and graphics isn’t everything!

Graphics are like cherries on your icecream. It’s nice, but not needed.

I think whipped cream and ice cream go terrible together.

Who the hell puts whipped cream on ice cream?

Fatties.

That better?

Better. But I don’t like cherries on my ice cream either. But I’d rather have cherries on it then whipped cream.

Have you people never had an ice-cream sundae? There’s whipped cream and cherries on it. And it’s beautiful. Jeez, indulge yourselves a little.

Peanut Butter and Ice Cream, that’s the way to go.

Anyway, I would rather not see anything “remade” on the Cryteck engine, especially not a Valve game. I’ve noticed the Source engine has a realistic feel that always strays away from the “perfection” feeling that Cryteck goes for, giving it’s own unique feel.

Also, the Cryteck engine is so poorly optimized it’s horrifying. I can maximize most games without any problem, but Crysis: Warhead pretty much eats my computer for breakfast without thinking twice about it.

Well, that and legal issues but you know, who cares about those.

You guys and your ice cream toppings are crazy. I go barebacking.

Vanilla Ice cream with Nesquik (chocolate powder)

So, you like Icecream and NesKwik?
Hmmm… I smell troll…

Just kidding. I prefer the sauce counterpart, myself.

Will black mesa replace HL for me… Hmmmm. I’m gonna talk about a completley on topic subject… How I like my ice Cream.

No it won’t. Black Mesa looks and likley will be badass, but Half-Life will always be better.

Sry, I don’t wanna dish you!
But this needs some kind of explanation in my eyes.

Because “better” is in the eye of the beholder
and BM beats HL1 in many categories already: leveldesign, graphics, living environment + NPCs, authentic atmosphere, interactivity.

And as long as you haven’t played this mod, it’s a little bit…strange to say, that HL will always be better.

At least you should explain, what you exactly mean by that.

Again: Sry, no offense!

none taken. I meant that Half-Life has always been my favorite game, and It’s so simple, yet, IMO is possibly one of the best games of all time. How any fan of FPS games has to play it or they’re missing out on one hell of a game. How it’s so great the crowbar is now kinda like the symbol of a hero. This game pretty much famed FPS’s. A recreation of it would be great, but still IMO couldn’t compare to the original. But I guess this is still a matter of opinion.
That clearify it any or did I waste some time typing?

I might from time to time occasionally play hl1 but bms will definitely have to replace it for me.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
