Why is the Snark Ammunition destroyable?

Hello, a long time ago I watch a let’s play about Black Mesa and the Player shoot for the snark ammunition and he seems to have no idea about the snarks as ammunition/weapon. ^^’

Hey that’s pretty cool!

didn’t know that.

I get the logic behind it in a “real” sense. It’s a nest of aliens/bugs. If Gordan handles it appropriately he can utilise them, if he attacks, they become hostile. Understandable.

Unfortunately in terms of being a game aspect, it just seems like a terrible design choice. I don’t understand why anyone would really want to destroy them and not utilise them unless you have some sort of bug phobia.

Knew about this after I peeked at the skill.cfg. I believe the number of snarks that spawn is 5.

i think its pretty awsome, from a game design i cound not care less, snakes are olny for fooling around anyway, they have on real use

I like this idea and would even be ok with making a toggleable option for most other ammo as well. Kind of like the “volatile ammo” mutator in Unreal Tournament. It was fun being able to shoot a pack of rockets (for example) from a distance right as someone was about to pick it up, and watch as it blows up in their face.

But I realize this probably wouldn’t be as neat in the world of BMS… And probably not very realistic for the most part.

the snark nests them selves are living creatures, that sort of explains why they can be destroyed, (it has legs)

This is would be cool for Deathmatch.

Cool I never you could destroy the Snark nest in Black mesa because I barely used the snarks, since they chase the player more often then the npc’s.

I knew about it all along because an answer to one of my questions before release included “if you shoot them, you’ll see a surprise”. But I think it’s unnecessary feature because if a newbie player shoots it, they can think those nests are not pickable.
