Either way, I was going to let catzeyes respond to swamp’s horrible misconceptions, but she only did it partially, so I’ll give my completely uninformed thoughts on the matter:
It’s just voice acting. It’s not like she’s devotingevery waking hour to this and losing sleeping hours and putting a rift between herself and her family. She just gets sent a script, and reads it into a microphone. Admittedly, it does take skill and the proper equipment to get good quality work, but it’s not exactly Sisyphus level trials here.
And why would she do it instead of looking after her “kids”? (whatever the hell the quotes are there for) you pretty much just answered your own damn question. Girls as a norm may not play games, but KIDS DO.
Being able to say that your mom is the voice of the tram unit in the world’s most awesome mod that updated the world’s most awesome game on the world’s most awesome game engine is, among kids,(heck, even among some adults) an epic level bragging right.

Two of my three kids play valve games and the only reason why the third does not is cuz his fingers have not grasped the hang of the keyboard yet. HOWEVER he did goad me into playing a couple of mods today by begging over and over for me to play so he could watch me pwn a few headcrabs, zombies and combine.
What is that? I am a bad mom cuz my kids play violent games? I dunno. The way I look at it my 13 yr old had a mastery understanding of cheatcodes when he was 7 and could carry on a distinct conversation while enabling several cvars. He wants to grow up to be a game modeler someday for a big company like valve. My 5 year old is learning about conquering fears despite some visually challenging circumstances. I don’t hide the scary parts, but I don’t dwell on them and I point out that a bit of adrenalin is actually fun. (He is an adrenalin junkie anyway… BIG TIME.) Other parents are coddling their kids by keeping certain things out of sight. I look at it that I am preparing them for the next generation to spill into the workforce by allowing certain opportunities to shape them. I fail to see the bad in all this.
Course there really is no way to prove my dedication to gaming is there. Unless you were a FRIEND ON MY STEAM LIST eh? Oh and dont bother turd man. I wont accept your “friend” request.
