Source already supports OpenGL for the Mac versions.
But seriously, I wouldn’t mind if the graphics stayed the same as long as Valve introduced a new mapping format that allowed continuous level streaming, so they could eliminate loadings between levels.

Then why have I always heard the opposite? I work with the engine myself. Well, I do know decompiling and recompiling is terrible. But that is really only for characters with face posing. G-Man I have rigged and compiled animations but he definitely does not have any facial animation besides the default because I haven’t really researched valve .vta files.

Source and Unreal Engine for example are both open for licensees for years. Which one is used throughout the industry … right, Unreal. And trust me, it is not because it is so much harder to produce content for and harder to work with than Source.
