Fix’d
that portal gun is sexy :jizz:
Looks great. I like the grainy specular highlights in the pic you posted earlier.
Onto another model now, and [COLOR=‘Lime’]she is proving pretty difficult so far. There are a ton of errors in it at the moment so I’ll be fixing it up when I get some time tonight. :freeman:
Let me know what you think!
Thanks,
Harry.
Any tutorials on how you do your rendering? Looks great.
You should make a tutorial about the Wheatly ;D
So erm, would you like a job in CGI when I become a movie director
Man you are awesome
I don’t use anything fancy; just the standard 3DS Max Scanline Renderer. I create a Skylight for the ambient-occluded shadows and give the model a standard coloured texture with a bit of self-illumination. This method makes the details stand out whilst making it visually pleasing. It takes about 30 seconds to set up and about a minute to render; with good results. :3
With textured models, I step things up a bit and add HDRI maps and several Omni lights. HDR tutorials can be found all over the internet. I used it for the reflections on the Portal Gun.
Thanks guys!
Another quick update:
[COLOR=‘Lime’]GLaDOS UPDATE #3
I can’t get her to look right though; I need better reference images.
Thanks,
Harry.
Thanks, didn’t know it was that easy. I thought you were using fancy V-ray setups or something.
Heh, I need to get that; I tried a demo version of it quite a while ago and it was pretty awesome.
I forgot to mention that when rendering using the above method, I also create an invisible plane underneath the model that casts shadows. This gives the model that smooth light-to-dark gradient from top-to-bottom.
Time for another quick update:
[COLOR=‘Lime’]GLaDOS 1
[COLOR=‘Lime’]GLaDOS 2
Again, there are still many errors which I’m currently in the process of fixing.
Thanks,
Harry.
Needs to be more vertical with the front panely thing and less circular.
I’m mostly getting general proportions and stuff at the moment before I go into specific shapes / angles. Thanks though!
Not much of an update but I never realised how much fun it was to model wires / cables. Good thing too; 75% of her body has some sort of wire wrapped around it.
I’m not happy with the bit on top of her head yet; that will be changed completely.
Thanks,
Harry.
All I know is imageshack suck.
What’s wrong with it Fong? I’ve never had trouble with it, even without an account or anything.
Can you see the images if they’re like this?
