What part are you anxious to see in BM?

I’m going for 2. It’s nearly impossible for Xen to suck more than in the original game.

yeah, it ruined the game in my opinion, and the nihilanth is the worst final boss I’ve ever fought, seriously, imagine the conversation that must’ve happened to lead to it’s existence

I always that it was just some sadistic practical joke by Valve.
Kind of like: “I have an idea. Let’s see how annoying and anticlimactic we can make the end of this game and still have people love it because of the awesome first several hours of game play.”

There are no Larry’s at Valve. :hmph:

He just put that name in as an example silly.

Well, I just wanna play it…It will be awful if there is no release of BM. :[

Oh, wow, just before I read the quoted post I thought the exact same thing. That part of (what was it? Office Complex or Unforeseen Consequences?), I thought was soooo awesome how VALVe put little things like that into the game. Also, at the beginning of “We’ve Got Hostiles”, a similar thing happens to a Barney.

I can’t wait to see how much cooler that’ll look in BM.

I’m most anxious about the improvements in sound quality. The most dated part about Half Life is the static-y, compressed sound effects and voices. They just give the game this cheap feeling nowadays.

Although I think it makes the G-man sound more creepy. It would kind of be interesting if they were to keep the original voice for that part (no offense to Mr. Sisk).

That was awesome. There’s no trolls like trolls that are also mods.

Fixed.

Now that I think of it I actually want to see what happens when someone get’s barnacled.

I just want to walk into the facility and breath in some good old nostalgia

new dialogue. There’s a few parts in half-life where you come across scientists or security guards that need to help you in some way but dont say anything. Im hoping they’ll have new dialogue in black mesa. For example, there’s a bit i think its in surface tension, when the xen jumper thingies start appearing on the ground, and you’re supposed to get a guard to walk quite a way with you to open a door, it’s just before the gargantua in the car park. From what I remember he doesn’t say much, if anything at all.

THE FUCKING RELEASE DATE!

PEACE! =D

I estimate it will be out sometime between now and when Black Mesa is released.

I’ll hold you to that :stuck_out_tongue:

Quickly! release the mod so everyone is distracted! until they get to xen…

I disagree. I think the sounds in Half-Life 1 are fantastic (both when it was released AND now). I really hope the ambient sound effects from Half-Life 1 are maintained in the mod (think of the hollow noise of being in a large outdoor area, or the raw electrical noises heard in the laser room in Questionable Ethics, or the classic crowbar-on-airduct bang).

The aural ambience greatly enhanced the game in my opinion - just thinking about the above noises brings the whole Half-Life 1 experience to my mind.

I’m not saying it’s impossible for BM: S to have better sounds, but I hope the important, game-defining ones are maintained.

I think the thing I’m most looking forward to right now is just being on that train heading into the Black Mesa complex for what is expected to be another day’s work (if Gordon only knew…). It will be sort of like playing Half-Life again for the first time, but with the latest Half-Life II graphics, the cool physics stuff and all that.

Plus, I’m really looking forward to hearing all the great music. The samples we’ve heard so far have been excellent.

I’m sure we can expect fantastic replacements though, courtesy of Joel. And I agree with Dunedain on the music.

I’m not really worried about voices and sound effects.
What I’ve heard in the teaser and voice samples lead me to believe that our ears will be in for a treat when we do our first playthrough.
