What Game Did You Play Today?

You cunter, it worked.

Also, fuck the main quest, Thieve’s Guild is where it’s at. Especially if you can go invisible and have the Skeleton Key.
:3

EDIT: Don’t go near the main quest if you’re lvl.18 or so. The main characters all seem to stay at level ten, yet the enemies level with you. Not. Good.

Played Portal today because the Heartbreaker achievement keeps going away :S

BTW, any good Steam games for $15 or less? Looking for a decent SP FPS - I was thinking of getting Unreal2… I thought it was pretty good, the little bit I was able to play on a buddy’s PC a few years ago; or should I just save up and get something like STALKER: SoC or Bioshock? (yet to play either)
NOTE: I have a mediocre PC - as in, it plays EP2 OK on medium settings.

Finished Far Cry on Easy today…never did that before lol. Also messed around with the original STALKER: Oblivion Lost alpha build 1935 now it’s been fan-patched a bit. And I just played the Mission Improbable mod for HL2ep2. Short but fun enough.

If you can only play Episode Two on medium settings, and only at okay frame rates, stay away from all STALKER games and BioShock.

bummer :frowning:
Well, thanks for the heads-up

Yeah Stalkers game are very poorly optimized.

Indeed. They’re incredibly fun, but the system requirements are very misleading.

I don’t know…
The Static Lighting setting makes the game DX8 so it’s not that bad performance-wise on older machines.

I play it with Full Dynamic Lighting with my 9800 GT because it looks sexy when I do.

EDIT: Also, beautiful sig, Door. Definitely a keeper.

This is a lie. My laptop runs Ep.2 at medium settings, and it runs stalker at about the same, mid-level on all the sliders etc.

Bioshock on the other hand, CTID’s right. The aforementioned machine can run that minimum everything, at 800*600 for a just-about playable framerate.
.

I run both on all high(bar AA).
Ep.2 = 25FPS at 1024x768
Stalker = 45FPS at 1024x768 with static lighting

I like how Source has bad performance in Ep.2… it kind of makes up for HL2 and Episode 1 where they are really optimised.

The thing is, I dunno about Clear Sky and Call of Pripyat, but SoC is pretty much unplayable unless you can play it on Medium settings, because your flashlight doesn’t work unless it’s on at least Low, and Nightvision doesn’t work unless you’re on at least Medium.

STALKER isn’t really about some overarching quest or journey like in Oblivion or Fallout, moreso about the world and events in it. To me SoC had a pretty clever tale of greed, but CS was just a shitty “OMG YOU HAVE TO SAVE THE ZONE” plot.

I never played CS…I heard it sucked. Overall though, Stalker is basically whatever you make it to be, especially CoP. You can beat the game focusing only on your main mission objectives, but you miss a lot. Its like the gameplay is there, but kind of hidden and dependent upon what, how far, and where you want to investigate. My friend and I played through it at relatively the same time, but he and I did things differently, found different things, and both missed some of the same things. I found CoP easier to focus on because of how they manage the environments and objectives.

I do agree that to max the game out you need a good computer…but it does scale well, you just have to know how to adjust the details. For awhile I played with a q6600 OCed to 3.6, 4 gigs of DDR2, and an 8800gt. Now I just recently upgraded to a 5870 and can finally max it out.

Played STALKER and Bad Company 2 today…

Will play GMod and FEAR 2 later.

Who plays BioShock 2 on the PC anyways? The sad truth is: It’s a badly ported console game. Hella fun, but poorly ported with fucked up controls.

Anyways: I’ve been playing alot of games today, as I do night services, so I was free today and I only have to work from twelve o’clock in the night to 8 o’clock in the morning, so I’d call myself free since it’s good friday tomorrow, so I’ll sum it up in a few words: I’ve been playing BioShock a 4th time, with BioShock 2 for the xbox to follow, been reading the artbook that came with it, been playing Fable 2, the best non shooter singleplayer game I’ve ever played, collected 3 of the legendary weapons in there, just figured “Why the Hell not?” and bought the DLC for it, which was worth “every ounce of gold” been trying out CS for the first time in 2 years, after which I unsuprisingly uninstalled again, been playing HL2 and for some less shitty multiplayer experience been playing TF2. Best day this week so far.

Is it therefore the first one you’ve ever played?

played some Just cause this morning… or as I like to call it: Grand Theft Auto: Costa Rica

I like to call it “Grand Theft Auto: Except Better”.

Nope.
