What can the community do?

Yeah, that’s an undeniable argument, man…

I’m familar in 3ds max, Cinema4D, Blender and some other apps so I could put something together but modeling everything from scratch is a pain in the ass. I’ve seen the base high res models and the’re really well made so if we could get our hands on them it could actually happen.

Besides, I bet I’m not the only one here working in 3D so a small group could create something really cool. Again, I’m talking about a short, 10-20 second teaser. Not much work needed and yet something new to show to people…

The mod will be out soon, not too long to wait.

Damn, Catz, you’re Irish and German? I’m Welsh and German!

You’re bringing good mood to me even if you’re not a dev.

I searched through the site for some promotional banners but there doesn’t seem to be any. So, that’s what the community could make. Here are some I quickly made in Inkscape:

(before release)
(after release)

And several sidebar-sized ads:

These are pretty simple, but it’s only an example. If you like the idea I’ll try to make something more professional-looking. Feel free to join, of course.

not a bad idea!

Just an idea,
Place something about the wiki on this bad boy, https://blackmesasource.com/community.html

Sounds really good and the banners already look nice, too!

Not bad, looks awesome. But something about the “Free Download” label makes it sound like retarded scamware… which Black Mesa clearly is not. :expressionless:

Just my input…

(btw I’m Chinese and… Chinese :stuck_out_tongue: )[/SIZE]

Thanks!

Thank you. Yeah, I thought that too but I wanted to state that it’s free and I couldn’t think of a better way. Maybe the button should just say DOWNLOAD, or just say FREE? Or remove the button completely?

@YARO: When I said ‘Yeah…no’ I was referring to this:

They wont give you their models prior to release.

Here’s an animated banner.

I’d say make it “Download Now!” or “Download HERE” or something like that. I don’t think the button is a bad idea though.

Great ideas Andy0101, maybe there is a way to combine the promotional artwork with the wiki?

Dunno, just an idea.

Fix your links dude I can’t click it! :stuck_out_tongue:

Those are very nice by the way, I still wish the release will come unexpected 'cause a greyed out button is unnecesserely teasing.

It was “coming out soon” in December man, no point in getting your hopes up…

I’m not asking for their ingame models, I’m asking for their high res base models, which were used to extract normal maps from etc…

I know! lets put out tons of ad parodies, like “Crowbar the headcrab to win!” or “step on the cockroach!” or “Your prize is inside this crate, use the crowbar to break it open!” or we can parody the quiz ones too "Which one of these enemies is a Headcrab/Zombie/Vortigon/HECU/etc and then show 3 pictures and no matter which picture you click on, it still takes you to the download site and says “you win!”

 I’m on it!

we could even do some forum related ones, like have a picture of a can of beans “which moderator is this?” or a picture of terminator with a big curly horned goats head, or a broken refrigerator, “which dev is this?”

Technically, it still is soon.

In relation to the renaissance ooooo :3

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
