Weird background

Hi,

Just loaded up Black Mesa again and instead of a vid this time a got a board of checkers (without changing any setting):

It’s a texture error, that’s what I can tell you.

Happened to me too sometimes, but only on loading screens. Main menu backgrounds and the game itself still work.

Same here

have you tried running source SDK base before playing black mesa?

I’m starting to think since it relies on the sourcetest it needs to be launched prior to playing the game, which I suspect is why some people are having trouble with the user interface.

Didn’t try it yet, cause it always went well, but had this bug once…

Main menu and loading menu did look like this

Pink and black checkerboards are usually an indicator for missing (or improperly loaded) textures.

Check this folder ‘\SteamApps\sourcemods\BMS\materials\console’, to see if the files listed below exist and if they are named properly.

Files (Reference):

Other than that, is the pink-and-black checkerboard, you posted a screenshot of, the only one you see / are there any of the said errors in-game?

No errors ingame, none, everything texture is working, only some lag in some levels already posted by other people…

I have all the files necessary, had this anamoly once, so don’t know WHY I had this bug…

Everything seems normal now.

But if u activate console in steam for the mod, u see alot of red lines …

Having the exact same problem. Does it go away?

Most of the time!

if it went away on its own, it’s probably due to a delayed write or HDD caching error, the file was there but was not readable on that run

I got problems here too! It only happens when it loads the Residue Processing loading screen. First it is just fine, then become pink and black checkerboard then finally it loads the map and is fine. The pink/black checkers only appears on loading screen. Even though I can ignore this I still want to fix this, any help?
