Watch Dogs

next-gen gamers

It does aesthetically kind of look like Assassin’s Creed so I can see some comparisons being valid. I’ve seen people say that this is an AC game though, which is retarded.

This game is obviously just a hybrid of GTA, HL2, Mirror’s Edge, Assassin’s creed, Bioshock, System Shock, Infamous, Crysis 2, and a wireframe rendering mode.

LOL NO ONE MAKS ANYTHING ORGIGINAL N-EMORE

Yup.

inFamous was Prototype with a better story and likeable characters.

Prototype is probably funnier to play in some aspects but the content of it is really really dark and violent. Probably more than it needed to be.

InFamous was also made by Suckerpunch so it’s fucking awesome.

Yeah, when I first played the demo for inFamous 1, for some reason I didn’t think too much of it.

Then when the whole PSN hacking happened and they gave us inFamous for free, I had to give it another shot and then I really liked it. So much so I had to buy the sequel. No regrets.

It’s one of my favorite series of games this generation and I hope Second Son doesn’t disappoint.

The real tipper between Prototype and Infamous for me was the soundtrack. Infamous had Amon fucking Tobin doing the music, so it’s the clear winner on that front.

Oh yeah. There’s that.

I think Watch Dogs probably started as an Assassin’s Creed related property, at least in the concept stage. Once the overall idea began to heavily diverge from the gameplay mechanics of a Creed game, it probably became a new IP. But that’s just my theory.

Even so, we NEED new IP so I am not complaining. Can’t wait for Watch Dogs.

Me nietherrrr

Yeah, a lot of the recently released games have been sequels. In fact, off the top of my head, I actually can’t think of a major AAA title that’s a completely new IP.

I’ll be watching these dogs closely

dishonored? And eh…

Right, that’s one. I did say ‘off the top of my head’.

In general, large ginormous-budget companies dislike rising their investments on new things. This is why they tend to spend their time and money on things that they know will do well financially (like CawlaDutie 37 through 49) rather than risking it on something that may or may not pay off. This is the same mindset with movies and other creative projects that involve high investment. It’s also why books tend to have far more unique IPs getting churned out in general… because they’re so cheap to make.

When companies do take risk, they almost invariably go with new IPs that come from people who have a history of creating successful projects, like James Cameron’s Avatar, or Christopher Nolan’s Inception, or more recently, Bungie’s Destiny.

This is also why Indie games have a far higher potential for innovation, since their lower budgets have a much more acceptable risk/reward ratio and they can be churned out in far greater numbers.
