Watch Dogs

Nope. That one was clever! But I ended up getting it after I relocated my initial vantage point a few times.

It was the Pawnee one. I couldn’t figure out how to safely get onto the island and find a good, safe place to hack from without ticking off every guard in the restricted zone.

I found that one to be extremely easy. A few cameras to locate the key, and once I knew where the box was I circled around the island clockwise, jumped the fence right next to the box, hid behind some junk and hacked it right there. In and out and they had no idea I was there.

Ah, so you actually bothered to go in. I hacked all of the others without setting foot in the restricted zone.

The roving camera man didn’t get close enough and look in the right direction to see the box, and none of the other cameras got a good angle that I could find. I had to go into most of the facilities, actually.

This mission with the convoy of people attempting to fake a prison transfer is driving me batshit crazy. It’s been a while since I’ve been this angry at a game. I’ve tried so many strategies it’s not even funny.

I didn’t find that one too bad compared to some of the criminal convoy side missions (THOSE drove me crazy).

Get them stuck in a traffic accident, get their attention, run the hell away so they start chasing you, then hack everything in existence to blow up their cars. Once you blow up the cars, you can just beat down everyone who is left on foot.

Or you could shoot them. If you want.

Bear in mind, I have the game’s difficulty set on “Realistic.” So more… confrontational methods of combat can be inadvisable. I have, however, discovered that leg shots to guards and gang members incapacitate them without counting as a kill, which was immensely cathartic when I blasted my way through twelve to one odds at a gang hideout, doing knee and leg shots like John goddamn Reese.

Ah! “Realistic” mode. I’ll definitely have to do that for my next run.

Apparently leg shots count as kills on the target for gang missions. OH GOD WHAT HAVE I BEEN DOING FOR THE LAST EIGHT HOURS?!?

Probably because otherwise it would be too easy to just take them out from a distance, and nullify the challenge.

Of course, it entirely depends on the environment. But there are at least a few gang hideouts where you could easily just snipe everyone from afar, including shots to the legs.

Check this out: Watch_Dogs original graphical effects (E3 2012/13) found in game files (NeoGAF / Guru3D)

Got my brother to try this on his PC (GTX 550 Ti 1GB, i5 3570) - game went from a stutter-fest on a mix of low-medium settings to almost stutter-free 30 - 45fps with slightly better graphics at the same settings (might try turning a few settings up tomorrow).

Gonna check this out when I get home.

Just came across on GameSpot, that I found this post regards to the E3 mod for Watch Dogs from the username DamnILoveGames.
This is his post:

If you actually read the Guru3D thread, it becomes pretty clear that Kadzait pretty much made that up out of jealousy.

Stupid question, but which page on the Guru3D thread is it anyway?

That looks pretty nice actually, too bad it turned out just like GTA IV ultra realistic mod, where everyone wants the credit for making it and nobody properly credits the original creator.

Regardless, damn nice. I don’t own the game (though parts of it look tempting/fun). When the mod is done or released or whatever, I’ll really consider it.

Unless of course it’d murder my PC. GTX 670 and i5 4670. :S

No particular page. It’s spread throughout the thread. You can skim it if you want… that’s what I did.

Basically what happens is that Kadzait comes into the thread occasionally, putting in some of his comments. At first he seems to want to cooperate with TheWorse, but after TheWorse expresses his desire to keep their two mods separate, Kadzait starts launching a smear campaign, throws lots of unproven allegations at TheWorse claiming that he was stealing his work, then gets tempbanned by the moderators for starting a huge fight and acting juvenile in general.

I think it’d probably run well on high settings, maybe with some on ultra (the changes in this mod might even make it possible to run ultra textures without horrible stutter on 2GB VRAM).

All this reminds me that it’s probably about time to upgrade from my GTX 570. :frowning:
