Starcraft, since i have never heard of Warhammer.
Uhm.
Warhammer is tabletop game.
Starcraft is a computer game.
DOES NOT COMPUTE.
And if this is about the game, Dawn of War and Dawn of War 2, I think neither are comparable. Dawn of War far outdates the first Starcraft. The second could about match up with Starcraft 2 graphics wise, but it’s a completely different game.
Honestly I think it’s kind of a strange comparison.
Warhammer 40k was made by Games Workshop along with Warhammer Fantasy in the 80’s. Blizzard had wanted to make Warhammer Fantasy and 40k games, but Games Workshop wanted too much money from Blizz. Blizz changed the story around slightly in the games and released them. Starcraft is pretty much a copy of 40k…and Warcraft is a copy of Warhammer Fantasy.
Btw, if you like Starcraft, you should look at Relic’s Dawn of War series, they’re awesome 40k RTS games. And there’s a Warhammer 40k MMO coming out that’s gonna kick so much ass from what I’ve seen so far.
Strange comparison? This has been done so much. I meant just comparing them…I find it annoying that Blizzard pretty much completely copied Games Workshop. Think of it. Imperium = Terran, Eldar = Protoss, Tyranid = Zerg.
Isn’t Warhammer more SteamPunk-ish and Starcraft more Future-ish?
Correct. I think. Starcraft is definitely not steampunk though.
That may be true, but that doesn’t change the fact that Blizzard games’ gameplay is super awesome.
Yeah, SC is a great game, I love it…I think Warhammer has great lore, and I love the DoW and DoW 2 series…don’t get me wrong, I’m eagerly awaiting SC2 in 17 days.
Starcraft, never liked Warhammer…
People in South Korea DIE for Starcraft
Games wise they’re about the same, Starcraft having seniority and 40K having some fairly groundbreaking mechanics. Fiction wise 40k is the clear victor, having a ridiculous backstory and numerous plotlines, especially for what started out as a tabletop game in the 70s.
Personally I like 40K better, partly because of the fiction and partly because Starcraft makes me rage. Rounds always feel like you’re playing with glass units.
True
There’s some dudes there died after playing it for xx hours…
If you want to know what SC is all about, watch this vid and turn up the sound real loud.

(MONKEY MAGIC!)
Something I like about Starcraft is that each race seems to be equally important, whereas in 40K it mostly seemed to focus around Space Marines or the Imperium in general. Which I guess is understandable, but can be a bit irritating if you allegiance lies with another race.
w40k. Because Starcraft is a rip-off
I also prefer Warhammer 40K. I always prefer originals over rip-offs.
Starcraft isn’t a rip-off, it just has the basic premise story-wise, and Starcraft isn’t about story
Although the single player campaign is quite enjoyable.
I vote for Warhammer 40,000 , just because of these things
Finely made details about anything, just spend some time reading Lexicanum

Starcraft is to practically a Rip-off of Warhammer 40k, there are very fine clear similarities in the Zerg and Tyranids:
Tyranids- vile creatures from beyond our Galaxies that descend upon our own and Devourer every Star System in their path, is controlled by One being called the Hive-mind and has multiple Hive Tyrants and other beings to pull the Synapse Aura to the Tyranid forces.
Zerg- vile creatures that were created by the Xel-Naga and turned on the galaxy, becoming a threat to all living life, is cotrolled by One being called the Overlord had has multiple Cerebrates to controlled the Zerg armies and keep them on a fine leash.
The Imperial/Space Marine to the Terrians is very noticable, just overdosed Steroid men with Speed in their Veins blasting everyone to Zanzibar.
Protoss and Eldar i dont wanna go there, they just are best left alone.
I.e. same basic premise story-wise.
And that sounds very similar to the Borg too
