Voices

I am just curious as to how they came about recording the voices and editing the sound of them? Like with the train. The female voice and the echo that is created.

What I am trying to say is what are some of the programs the Black Mesa team would of possibly used?

Example:

Female Voice for train.

Thanks!

They may have used audacity, or something more expensive.

Possibly. Maybe adobe programs? Ill wait for more answers and see what other programs others can come up with because im not sure at all. >_<

You probably won’t get any for awhile since it’s the middle of the night.

Joel Nielsen’s (the guy who’s doing the sound and music for BMS) website

Joel Nielsen has an awesome studio set up and for a long time did all of the tweaking of the voice work.

Debeerguy 007 did our Barney and GMan work and has also picked up some of the sound editing work. As stated on the team page, Kevin “Debeerguy” Sisk has earned the Sound Engineer title for his work. I wish he had a website I could direct you guys to. I should talk to him about it.

Anyway, as far as I know, Joel uses his awesome studio, and Kevin uses Audacity. Which happens to be a kickarse program.

Since you’re talking past tense, am I to assume that voice and sound for BMS is complete?

About 6 months ago I thought it was, but then I read the pcpowerplay article and it hinted that there are still more ambiance sounds that Joel wanted to put in. So I dont know for sure if that would be considered NEEDED work or DESIRED work. :s hrug:

As far as actual dialog though, I am 95% sure it is all done.

My brains wont understand the question.
Theres “curious” and “possibly” and questionmark.
Curses.

Catz, are you done with your audio work?

I do believe I am. The last bit I did was the assassin pain sounds.

Thanks all! I might give Joel a little e-mail and see what program he used because its a decently big list to choose from on his site. >_<

:awesome:

It’s unfortunate that those pain sounds are usually the go-to source material for this sort of thing.

Haha oh man, at the second one.

How did the voice artist for Coach say the line “It ain’t right for a man to be ridden like that” WITHOUT thinking of how it could be misused?

The second one indeed :stuck_out_tongue:

Somehow I feel aroused. :frowning:

Maybe when BMS is released it could be your voice that’s used for a similar video :expressionless:

That would be my turn to be aroused.
