Hard mode (and it’s effects on the marines) drives a guy insane. Great job guys.

It’s not that hard, I died maybe 5 times on my whole plythrough on Hard.

It’s hard when your PC sucks donkey balls and the CPU is pinned at 100% usage by the video recording/streaming software.

In those cases I would recommend using a 2nd PC with a Tuner card to record the video output of PC #1 to avoid any inconveniences like this.

I have a shitty PC myself and despite this, if you are skilled you shouldn’t have major difficulties just beating the game. For example, it lagged quite badly in the section with a shitload of HECUs and a tank just after the cliffside section, and it’s one of the hardest moments in the game.

There’s a difference between occasional lag spikes and constant lag on top of the regular game lag spikes.

So you admit that lag directly correlates with difficulty?

This with or without a tweeked skill config? I find that hard to believe if you did it with one and got away with 5 deaths…

Well I don’t count deaths that are not connected with difficulty, like pit falls and tripmine jumping. If you are cautious and use the right weapons and remember enemy spawns from previous playthrough, it’s really quite easy.

FUCK THAT SECTION. It’s when you come up from the drains after the cliffs and there’s a tank and a fuckton of HECU. Come up from the pipe, lag spike, then immediate one shot kill from resident HECU fuckwits.

I really hope the commercial version fixes that sequence. I must have died there at least twenty times.

YOU SHOULD NOT HAVE TO DO THAT

That’s terrible game design, especially for Half-Life.

That’s always been the case in HL…

I agree with his comment, AND yours.

Though I feel like the design does get better with each game, and it’s easier to anticipate what you need to do.

However, they do need to fix that section. I have serious trouble with it in OG Half-Life. Something about attacking soldiers from below is very tricky.

The best way to do that part is probably to get behind the tank through the hatch, drop a few satchel charges on the turret while it’s near you and use shotgun double blasts and Python headshots on the grunts. That worked for me on Normal, not sure how much harder that’s on Hard difficulty.
