ValveTime BlackMesa Gameplay footage

^ That’s more of what I meant about the shotty. The texture work was very similar to custom spas-12 skins for goldsrc, whereas HL2 doesn’t need the lighting painted on thanks to the dynamic lighting.

The new shotty remedies that though.

And by god seeing that new shotgun with the HEV arm looks beautiful.

I agree that new shotgun skin is beautiful and it definitely feels like a Spas-12 when you look at it. It looks more real.

I don’t know why… but the graphics in the gameplay video remind me a lot of Bioshock 1/RAGE… I’m not complaining… I actually liked Bioshock 1’s dark gritty graphic style. It wasn’t brown. It was vivid but it still had a dark feel to it. I personally liked Bioshock. Anyway, I’m really looking forward to Black Mesa. I can already see all the gaming critics say “THIS IS AWESOME!” and stuff.

Head bobbing is very subtle. When my left foot comes down my head rumbles like an impact on the spine very slightly…could be because my “dominant” foot is my right foot.

In the video the marine shot running up to Freeman in the beginning…his head is halved by the .357 Python. The guy hit by the grenade splits in half.

no

There is a moment where you can see a grunt’s broken and bloodied headless torso on the ground. I remember that vividly when I watched the 1080p.

well video is really impressive

it was 50 cal

Right.

Yeah the .357 doesn’t seem to do that. But I don’t think it should be gibbing the whole body anyway. And the way gibs work, you either have full gib or ragdoll, so…

Not really.

elaborate

You can do it L4D style where you’d need a different model for each combination of limb/head blown off.

Knowing their usual philosophy of work versus reward though, I’d assume that the BM devs are not doing that.

I thought they already figured out a way of limb-gibbing tho… bc I remember seeing a grunt’s leg fly and plop on the ground after a frag explosion.

there is no partial gibbing.

Basically. You just can’t keep the npc’s “alive” like in L4D. Guard Duty mod has head gibbing. It’s a small thing but it adds a nice touch.

Your avatar nearly has head gibbing, too!

teaser trailer, is totally sweet, they captured the vibe of half life so well

I hope you can disable the camera shifting… thing

I remember when zombie in zombie panic source got headshot by powerful weapon, a piece from their head with fell off.
