Valve wants to make the Half Life Movie themselves.

Meh, it’d only get release 7 years after it started; Ghandi Half Life is not.

If anyone should do it, and if anyone can perfect it, Valve should be able to.

There aren’t any plans to make a movie at the moment for them, so I won’t be getting too excited about this. Movies are great and all but I consider Video Games to be the better medium it’s why I am a gamer. I’d be better to see more money spent on a Half-Life game then a movie.

Unless they make it fucking amazing and its a commercial success and brings in tons of cash (I’d also be nice to talk to people other then the usual fanboys too). But I could really care less about a movie for the sheer fan service of it.

No movie in sight, but at least we can be sure they won’t let Uwe Boll or Shyamaladingdong or Michael “BOOM” Bay fuck it up.

EDIT:
Maybe a spinoff made by nolan, he didn’t make any bad(ly rated) movies so far.

you know, a half life movie would be weird, maybe i don’t know much, but i dont see movies with silent protagonists all that often. And if they gave him a voice that would just be the start of something bad

I’m pretty sure a Half-Life movie wouldn’t involve Gordon. I think that’s even been stated by Valve.

well that works out well then. any chance there is a link to statement?

I’d like some examples of the stories the writers being brought in were pitching.

It was a dark, dreary day of darkness and dread. The Black Mesa Research Facility has been under attack for 10 minutes. First, people believe the Resonance Cascade is only bringing in aliens from another dimension… But in a blink of an eye, it goes down even further into the depths of the fierce hell fire. A new enemy wanders into the rift, an enemy far more threatening than the invading aliens or the soon-to-be arriving H.E.C.U. An enemy that pushes our hero, Gordon Gerard Freeman, into such a predicament that he mutters his first words… “I’ve had enough of this shit. Time to kick ass and chew bubble gum. It appears I can currently do both for at least a few hours… Until I’m all out of gum.” This enemy, so horrid, so vile, isn’t really just one enemy… But two. The locust… And the Covenant. Gordon-"

That’s as far as the guy got. I think.

I agree. Too bad he’s dead.

And this as well. Maybe it’s an enhanced retelling of Blue Shift? Or an overview of the incident with only a few scenes showing Gordon, none of them close up?

They are working on a secret project with The Purchase Brothers, I think. That could be it.

Now THAT I would pay to see.

If Freeman makes an appearance, it should only be brief or a sighting. Having the film about Gordon and Alyx (HL2) would not be good at all, but some sort of spin-off story would be epic.

And it would possibly increase half-life’s popularity(if it is awesome).

i hope so. The Purchase Brothers have been silent for too long.

Escape from City 17 was awesome, shame there isn’t more of that

Escape from City 17 was some miserably executed shit.

I’ve got more faith in the BBM dudes.

I can imagine a film about the relationship between Alyx and the alleged deaf guy.

I’d like to see one about what Barney does in the lapse between Red Letter Day and Anticitizen One.
With a quick intro to show what the universe is about for those who don’t play the games, of course. Maybe the all-knowing vort breaking the forth wall by telling the story of Half-life 1 around a campfire?

Awesome idea!

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
