So I wanted to know if it’s okay for me to use BM assets in a map I’m working on, and that I will release to the workshop.
Until now I only really saw a few maps use like 2-4 textures for walls and such, so idk
- For a non-black mesa map.
All assets in Black Mesa that are IN THE MOD VERSION (this most noticeably excludes ST:U and Xen models when Xen comes out) are technically under the Creative Commons license.
This means that you are free to use them in whatever way you want (pretty much), as long as you give credits to the Crowbar Collective.

Creative Commons is just a medium, you can make almost any form of license with it.
Creative Commons has the following license for Black Mesa: Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 3.0 Unported License
That means:
- You must give proper credit. You must tell the license used and who it belongs to (Crowbar Collective).
- Your work must be non-commercial. That means your map cannot be making you money.
You can find the whole license.txt in the …/Black Mesa/bms/ folder. The license can also be found online: https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/3.0/
You explained it a lot better than I did. Totally forgot to mention the non-commercial bit.
