Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to pay close attention on this project, but it is very good looking! Also voted for it on ModDB.
Cheers, Hezus!

Cheers to you as well for the vote!
Release will be tomorrow, lads
Wow awesome, voted for it on ModDB too btw.
I’m glad to see quality content for BM being worked on
Hezus,
I know you’re at the point of releasing Black Mesa Uplink, but I think you should seriously consider the suggestion made by dky.tehkingd.u above. This effect is extraordinary and is used in some of the BM maps and was just added by TextFAMGUY1’s to one of his rooms in his ST Uncut add-on, that’s soon to be released.
I don’t know how difficult it would be to add this effect into your maps, but using it in the BM Uplink area, depicted in picture number 4 below, would make it visually stunning and scary as hell. Maybe consider releasing it as a patch or update.
Below are some examples (pictures 1, 2 and 3) using this effect. Please ignore the oval circle in the first picture.
Also, I voted for your mod on modDB.
Always possible to make a patch of course …
Well, Hezus will have to patch it anyway:
Whem BM(steam) will be out Hezus will fix any possible issue related to the changes done by Devs.
I wonder when we gonna receive any updates about this …
Release date for BM Uplink mod is Dec. 18/12, so we should hear something tomorrow. Can hardly wait!
Excellent news Hezus.
Thanks for all your hard work!
Block Light actually does what it says: Block the light. The effect you mean is env_projectedtexture. I’ve used that one in the sewer in another spot.
About the release date: It’s been set to December 17th, which is today. I’m uploading the files at the moment. Will post link soon enough. Thanks for all the votes!
So this is another mod in sourcemods folder or just in the BMS folder?
Hezus,
Any reason why it could not be used in more than one location? The map location in picture 4 attached to my post screams for this effect to be used there. It would look very, very cool, but it sounds like it’s too late to do so, if you’re presently uploading your mod files for release. Please consider adding more instances of this lighting effect at a later date, somehow.
Glad to hear your mod is coming out earlier than expected.
Env_projectedtexture can only be used 1 at a time, IIRC.
Also Hezus, the effect he means IS actually block light. You lay the tool texture out in a grid, and bump up the lightmap scale in the area around it. It’s used in a few places in Black Mesa too, it’s probably better for that lighting effect than env_projectedtexture though it’s a bit more work. You could also use texturedshadows in lights.rad, but making a blocklight grid is probably just as simple and more flexible.
Anyways, congratulations on the impending release. This looks really good and I thoroughly look forward to playing it.
He is talking about using the block light texture to artificially force VRAD to bake lightmap shadows onto the walls, which you did not do. The examples that he gave all use this technique, in which the mapper used block light brushes in the shape of a grating to bake a high-quality shadow onto the walls.
Env_projectedtexture is a dynamic light with many flaws. You can only have one of them active at any given moment, and the resulting shadows are hideously blurry.
Edit: :ninja:
The mod adds file to the BMS folder( .\maps .\models etc…), you won’t have another folder in your sourcemod directory.
How to Play it:
1- Install it
2- Run BlackMesa
3- Click on New Game and select Uplink (chapter 0)
4- You can also play it with the commentary mode.
I am really disappointed that the release article made authorization before the download links did.
