That sucks. Can he download from limewire or anything, or is he just completely fucked?
Shit. Does this “torrent detector” is a hidden program on my comp or is it from the ISP itself?
It’s the ISP but some people think it’s the DNS server, you can try using open DNS, just change your DNS IP to 208.67.222.222 or 208.67.220.220
You can still download from limewire, but it’s only good for music nowdays.
it’s most probably the DNS - anything else wouldn’t make much sense…
o rly?
and what can resist isp-side traffic analysers catch torrent packets and dump dest_ip from tcp/ip headers?
and the only dns-communication is made by a program is gethostbyname(char*addr);
change isp, change country, use vpn/proxies and ssl wherever you’re able to.

Is anyone else bugged by the way Com[e]r writes? With his one eyed smilies, overuse of word formatting and utter lack of capitalisation?
I seriously hope he’s a troll…Or else severely brain damaged.
No, he’s just Russian, the only reason my grammar doesn’t totally suck is because I moved to Canada.
Also my troll detector is idle, and I assure you, it’s pretty accurate.
I guess I’ve got a dynamic IP with open DNS primary and secondary DNS addresses. Can’t really definitively ID an individual that way. Especially if the network admin owes you a solid.
My point wasn’t about his grammar, besides capitalisation. And that’s not exactly hard to do.
Imonfire has a static IP and Cable internet, very easy to ID because you can’t change your location like with DSL.
Actually I have a cable connection that authenticates via PPPoE, and dynamic IP. I don’t have DSL.
However this isn’t an option for him. I can all but guarantee.
uh… there was an argument (before the Great Forum Crash) about capitalisation etc.
but i still can’t see why one should hit [shift] rapidly where it’s dispensable? [/rhetoric]
and don’t forget the differences in russian and english grammar - you can’t rebind the way you think by easily switching your keyboard layout, so have some patiency and stop shitting bricks every time someone acts the way you don’t expect him to act ^__*
If you can write in English (which you clearly can) you’ve already made that “rebinding”. From there, capitalisation is not a big step.
Correct. People also belive that its just as easy to ID a location with dynamic IP addressing even after an IP renewel. Its acctually quite anoying for an ISP to serach through records of what IP address you had and when.
I wouldn’t be supprised if most IPs logs only went back a few address and earses old ones as the list grows.
That’s not the only thing I meant by changing location, some people might remember from a while back I was stealing internet by using other people’s PPPoE login/password. You can’t really do that with cable.
There is, of course, the highly controversial “go-out-and-actually-buy-the-thing” option… it’s usually much quicker, much better quality (from the crap I’ve seen anyhow) and you get DVD features too (if you’re into that kind of thing)… Though I’d hate to force any vaguely legitimate leanings on any of you rogues.
Yes, I did use the word “rogues” there. I am, in fact, a 19th century throwback. Bite me.
I would go out and buy/rent stuff if I had the money. Thing is, I don’t.
Most of the movies I actually download I already own.
I just want the blu ray or extended version.
For example I’ve already bought two version of both watchmen, Sin City, Ironman…
Now the watchmen ultimate edition is coming out. I am gonna download the fuck outta the blu ray version.
Also, I can also swing it that I can have two IPs simultaniously which are totally different. This is all logged, and so if anything happens I just come up with logs that I was on a different IP at the time.
