FYI: I’m interested in really getting toned. Not ripped like you, just all around muscular relative to my size. I heard exercises using your own weight is good for that sort of thing, but I’m not an expert on what exercises I should do. Got a good exercise routine to burn fat/build some muscle?

Yeah I’d like to know too as I’m also exercising myself to get bigger, because as I’m now I look like a toothpick with a fauxhawk.

You sound like the typical curls-for-da-gurls gotta have my abs kind of guy. No offense, it’s not a bad thing, you’re just uninformed. “Toned” is not a word that should be in anyone’s vocabulary concerning anything related to bodybuilding. “Tone” is what soccer moms spend 3 hours in the gym doing 1000 reps of ab adductors/abductors try to achieve. “Definition” is what someone who knows what they’re doing tries to achieve. You cannot have definition if you are a toothpick and have no muscle on your frame. Unless you are obese, your first and only option is going to be to bulk. How much do you weigh and how tall are you? As I said, unless you are obese, the general outline of what you are going to be doing is eating (a lot), and lifting with proper form and a good routine. Bodyweight exercises are convenient, but you aren’t going to add much muscle to your frame just doing them. You’re going to either want to invest in a rack for a home gym or a gym membership so you have access to free weights.

And concerning the stretches, dynamic stretches don’t wear your muscular tissue at all in the same way a static stretch does. Leg swings and such are examples of dynamic stretches. Static stretches are holding a limb or body part in one place for an extended period of time. It severely impacts your strength if you do it pre workout.

Okay so I’m a toothpick too. I’m 5’11", and I weigh 140 pounds. I’m really skinny. So what should I do if I want to get bigger, or bulk like you said? Eating a lot, okay. But what should I eat? Salad, junk, protein? And what exercises should I do? Right now I only have a bench and a couple of loads (is that the good word?) that you’d probably lift up with one arm.
