Ultra High Resolution Black Mesa Screenshots

The 1998 glock models had suppressors on them, if memory serves…

They did indeed. BM does have suppressed glock sounds though.
Nice screenshots, by the way! I’d take some but I always run stuff like this at 640x480 haha

Ultra HD original quality on youtube ( 2560 x 1440 )

It’s as if I’m trying to watch it in the mid 2000s. I need a faster internet connection.

Why dubstep?

Also, if you have a second HDD, you can save your Fraps videos into it to reduce performance loss while recording.

can’t have 1440p without 1337 music

I had a different problem. It’s like I’m trying to watch on a crappy old pc. This is what it looks like when I try to play the video.

LOL HAHA!

Why is your monitor trying to eat itself?

at least you don’t live in a third world country, then you would understand the meaning of slow internet

Actually, we’re talking about an alien invasion shooter from 2012.

I for one would be very interested to see this thread take off and to see even more spectacular screenshots from the fanbase. I also know there is a certain gentlemanfrom the “freeman chronicles” that is looking for some high res awesomesawce screenshots, particularly of the first stages of the game to be used in the next stage of their filming.

I dont think we need another “pound the print screen” thread like some might be thinking, but instead a true creative do your best screenshot of your favorite parts of the game.

That said, here are some tips I have gathered from the net on how to get some really badass screenshots.

  1. High resolution (1600x1080 or 1920x1080) & high (at 4x) MSAA is preferred. Crank your settings as high as you can go.
  2. Action is nothing to be scared of. This could be anything from full on fighting to a simple enemy in the scene…but avoiding blank environment shots (which has been 99% of our media so far) is preferable.
  3. Use host_timescale to play the game in slow motion. This is great for getting action/combat shots.
  4. If you really wanna go crazy, try some advanced screenshot techniques such as recording demos and playing them back in slow motion, where you can pause time and frame your shots.
  5. Hide your hud (cl_drawhud 0). no HUDs allowed in these shots.
  6. Hide your weapon (r_drawviewmodel 0) if desired. Ideally if you are noclipping/framing in a non-standard way, the weapon is hidden. If you are walking around normally, weapons can be okay.
  7. Use FOV changes if desired.
8 ) Think about what the public has/hasn’t seen. Getting cool shots of iconic moments & unseen stuff is preferred.
  8. Think about getting interesting combinations of weapons/enemies. Can you get a shot of a marine hitting a tripmine? or taking out houndeyes with grenades? Mix it up.
  9. Don’t use weapons out of context with chapters…eg; no gluon in Office Complex.
  10. Take a lot of shots, and narrow them down yourself. Don’t post 5 shots taken within seconds of each other…you pick the best one and give that.
  11. Think about framing, fore/mid/background, etc. Composition is 90% of what makes a screenshot great or terrible. You want this to look like a movie director took this screenshot, not some fan wandering around while playing.

Hello

I am producing a half-life webseries and I would love to get some high res screen shots. Can anyone help?

They would wanna have minimal or no HUD. Similar to the screens featured on the black mesa site.

thanks!

Told ya’s. This guy is legit. ^

So, somethin’ like this?

(I have a higher res picture on my hard drive–1920x1080)

Hmmm…before I post something serious. I’m gonna try and get my 5760 wide eyefinity set up going again.
With my current config: LINK
HD screens leave me with the bezel in the center, while my third monitor is unused.

I have a three-monitor setup and an NVIDIA GeForce GT 640. I’ve tried to research but I wonder if it’s possible to game on all three monitors.

Anything that might look good with our real life characters photoshopped onto it.

Like this but maybe some outdoor locations too.

Things that were memorable.

The Die Freeman ambush or a good exterior location.

Yes this would be cool!

Understood! Next time I get some free time, I’ll see what I can find.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
