UFOs!

You are using a very broad term for a very specific event, and then arguing to people that the broad term doesn’t mean what they think it means, when it does mean Unidentified Flying Object. Please stop that. It is annoying and you are wrong.

“Suspicious And Supposedly Alien Aircraft” Ought to be coined.

if it’s identified it’s not a UFO anymore but a IFO(not one of very my bad jokes)

if you saw a flying saucer, clearly and everywhere around the world sees it there are videos of it,it’s confirmed by scientists then it’s not a UFO.that was what I was trying to tell.

British Ministry of Defense uses the term UAP or “Unidentified Aerial Phenomenon” to describe a specific phenomenon. I use “Flying Object” instead of “Aerial Phenomenon” because I’m American and that’s what it is referred to as here. Like it or not, that is how the definitive terminology (from a military-government study for fucks sake) describes the electromagnetic phenomenon which this thread is about.

so instead of talking about spacecrafts, you want to let us talk 'bout some scientific shit you can discuss on other, more relevant forums.

But you guys are fixating on the U, which is used in both terms. So its irrelevant whether its UAP or UFO. I’d just call it a mysterious electromagnetic plasma field that causes people to trip balls, but it doesn’t make for easy or convenient conversation.

People stopped taking the term “UFO” 100% literally after the 1950’s, get with the times. It’s been a slang term for a while now.

uuuuhhhh. then why does it gets captured on camara if it’s imagination. I seriously don’t get that part. it’s NOT tripping balls if you can capture it on camera.

The MoD confirms that one phenomenon exists and you have to go and say that UFOs are explained, even though UFO covers all form of sightings, from helicopters, air balloons, planes, to space craft both terrestrial in nature and alien (whether they have been seen or not)? So you just admitted to being an idiot? Great.

I’ll expand on this later but its not CAUSED BY tripping balls, it CAUSES tripping balls. It’s a real, physical object that influences human perception with electromagnetic fields.

so you’re saying seeing ANY UFO(even those that are just planes)causes you to see unicorns hand in hand and singing 'bout corn.that makes just as much sense as the bible does(no offence the religios people)

I think it would help if mattemuse would stop defending his words and try to actually realize what is being said by both sides.

The Times article has a poorly written opening paragraph or three. It starts with very misleading statements making you believe that all UFOs are from one general cause, which is patently untrue. Later on it goes into more detail explaining that there are dozens of causes for UFOs, only one of which are these plasma balls.

The UK MoD summary on the subject is written much better, and says from the beginning that all UFOs have many different causes.

Ask anyone what this is, and they will say its a UFO. It is slang for a specific thing (lights in the sky that defy physics and are commonly interpreted to be alien spacecraft), and you are just being an overly literal tool in order to try and prove me wrong. You are full of fail and should stop posting in this thread unless you have something to add other than semantic bullshit.

Talk about whatever you want, as long as it is on the topic of UFOs as described in the links I posted for discussion (whether they be aliens or plasma balls or whatever) and not pointless semantic trolling.

trust the bear.he knows better.

EDIT:this is posted before Mattemuse’s edit

No, it looks like a special effect to me. And from that shot it doesn’t appear to be either unidentified or flying, so it doesn’t qualify as a UFO.

If you asked me I wouldn’t say it looked like an UFO, since I actually use the term for what it really stands for. And that looks more like Hi-Hat clamped together than alien spacecraft.

A stainless steel hi-hat?

You’d be surprised what people make these days. :stuck_out_tongue:

To be honest I didn’t even think about the color. But that still doesn’t make me think “OMG now there’s an UFO if I ever saw one!!1!eleven”

that only covers the rossweld incident but yeah.weather balloons are the best UFO explanation that has proof of it

*Roswell

To be honest, I don’t trust in the MoD since we went to war with Iraq and damaged our relations with Europe.

Thanks for the info on the “Unidentified Aerial Phenonemons” terminology, I might now get it mixed up with “OAP”, much like I mix up “Terrorist” with “Tourist”
