It would seem that some of our forumites need a refresher course on the meaning of the word “Troll”. I am not going to reference anyone in particular, (pointedly looks around at some of the forumites) but some folks are starting to look like baboons due to the continued improper use of the word. I am not a grammar nazi, english police, or spelling warlord by any means. I just think it is important to remember what the real definition of a troll is.
Trolling is a method of fishing where you trail bait through the water from a slow-moving boat hoping to hook an unwary fish. An online troll does much the same.
“Troll,” in the context of message boards and the like, describes somebody who is posting just to be confrontational or to raise hackles. Trolling aims to elicit an emotional reaction from those with a hair-trigger on the reply key.
Trust me, every new thread with the extremely stupid suggestion/question that is never gonna make the mod, and with Gordon Freeman’s name written wrong is just a very popular trolling attempt on these forums. I thought it would get old fast, but it still works on most people here.
cool guide catz ,but the sad fact is that retarded trolls will never behave or you know …stop it ,unless they fully mature or finally realize that it’s simply a waste of time
I think it is because people here are so used to idiots posting stupid things in regular threads they become incapable of recognising genuine trolls making a single thread with bad ideas and spelling.
A very basic rule to tell the difference between a troll and someone who’s simply really bad at stating an opinion.
If you agree with what you’re saying, YOU’RE NOT TROLLING.
Too many idiots have claimed they were trolling after being destroyed for posting uneducated, stupid opinions. THEY ARE WRONG.
Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
