Transparency HUD (Plasma TV friendly)

I’m planing to buy a Plasma TV next month and Black Mesa will be one of the first “content” I’m going to use with it. I’m concerned about HUD though, it’s completely not transparency and after few hours of playing I could get some burn-in problems (due to not yet-used display). Is it possible to set HUD transparency or will it be possible in the near future? PS. This mod almost killed me with it’s awesomeness.

You can turn off the glowyness, if that’s a word. go to the tab in options labeled “Black mesa” and you’ll find it there

It doesn’t change anything related to transparency, unfortunately.

Play without the hud for a while then. Or just fuck around in AM.

How can I play without the HUD? Sorry for the noob questions, I can’t find this in settings.

Type this in the console and hit ENTER on your keyboard:

cl_drawhud 0

To disable it.

cl_drawhud 1

To enable it.

Thank you, i’m really keen on to know how to make it transparency and the feeling of playing Black Mesa without any stress is worth to mess a little with some files etc  You are right, playing without HUD is possible in some games, but in Half-Life? It’s a great feature of HEV suit

I think that most modern plasma screens don’t have too much of an issue with burn-in. I played good old Return to Castle Wolfenstein in several sessions of a few hours with my PC hooked up to my 50-inch panasonic plasma screen, was only a month or two old. The HUD in that game doesn’t have any transparency so those icons were on screen a long time, but doesn’t seem to have done any harm.

Or you could just enable it from the options menu…

Yes, you could - it seems that you’re not the first to post this ‘addition’, whenever I post this step-by-step mini-guide, but it doesn’t seem to work on some keyboards (personally, it doesn’t matter which button I press in-game, after enabling it via the options menu) - so, just to cover a variety of keyboard layouts, I’ll keep using / posting the small step-by-step guide, when it is needed.

No problem, take your time. I really appreciate that.

The hud changes when you lose/gain health/ammo, so wouldn’t that eliminate any concern about burn-in?

there are some parts that remain the same such as the icons, weapon crosshair. ect

Jenova - Any progress?

Yes, I’m almost done, actually - just want to add and polish some things.

Sorry again… :frowning:

no problem, you are doing great job. Maybe if its hard to polish you could release a tutorial or some files with a current progress?

As stated in various posts, I will not be working on the Guide or Reply any longer, simply because I don’t have enough time on my hands anymore (things in RL got a little complicated in the last few days).

Sorry and sincere apologies,
