Those details in mod version that I think are better than that in the Steam version

Recently I come back to play through the old mod version of Black Mesa, now I want to say something for the details in the mod. I think these are better than the steam version we have now, I hope that sometime in the future we can see them in the game again.

1.The blood stained weapons.
Begin with the satchels and the tripmines, I made pictures to show the difference.
In the mod version, when you throw out a blood-stained satchel, you will get a new clean one, and you can see the former stained one left on the ground.

But in the Steam version, you will throw out a new one, the stained one is still in you hand.

The same as the tripmines, like below.

This detail is very good I think, hope devs can add it back to the steam version later.
Add two gif to show them clearer

steam version

  1. The 357 magnum.
I made two pictures, it is more than any words. You can see the differences.

In the mod version, the cartridge will roll after your shooting, but it doesn’t do in the steam.

Though steam version is more fitted with the original Half-Life, but I still like the old one.

3.Something else
In the mod version, when you killed enemies, they will be stained with their blood on their body. But in Steam version, the bodies are clean.

And will the stained blood’s effect be improved? They are look like red paint or yellow salad in my opinion, not like blood.

Then in the mod version, if you kill enemies with the crossbow, the arrows will be left on their bodies. But it’s not like this in the steam version.

Here is a new feature: In the mod version, each time you get the healthkits or the batteries, a blue light will flash on the whole screen, indicating that the H.E.V suit has received the energy you have got. In steam version, it will not happen.

Well, these are details in the game that I think mod version is better than the steam verision. So I made this comparison for them. Maybe some of them are changed for reasons, perhaps they are unnecessary, or they are incompatible with the current version, but I’m appreciate to see them back to the game again.
As Xen is coming this summer, I hope devs can add them back in the future’s updates. These details are good, I don’t want them to go away.

That is all above, and thank you for your reading.

As far as I know, these features caused bugs with the new version of the game, so they had to take them out for now.

I’m sure they will add them back in again once they are done with tackling the big chunks of the game (Xen and improving DM).

hmm, i might sound pessimistic but i don’t think they would fix this even after the finalize the game.
These are small and unnoticeable by a large number of players. So unless the fans really demand this,
i don’t see it coming back.

But if it does, hooray!

Tip of the day:
Take screenshots with F12, drag / CTRL + C/V them into your post.
Instead of taking them with your camera.
