Wait, you can’t zoom in in Black Mesa, can you? The HEV suit MK. IV does not have a zoom capability.
What I don’t want to see in Black Mesa are those puffer things that throw you some random height into the air.

I am pretty sure what they mean when they say “the magnum has a zoom function” is actually “when you right click with your magnum out your view will slightly magnify the area ahead of you so as to simulate focusing, and allowing ensured hits on targets at medium range”.
I don’t understand why you people seem to think “zoom” has to mean x10 scope.
The function you described sounds more like “squint” rather than “zoom”
Well, in that case; the crossbow bolts need to explode whilst no-scoping.
I never got that.
You mean the bounce pads? I’m pretty sure they’re staying in as they were crucial in some sections. You just need to learn to utilise them better.
I don’t know about you but when I fire a gut my eyes don’t zoom in >>
Still doesn’t explain why none of the other weapons had it.
The track-switch design for “On a rail” always bugged me. In fact, I went on that loop for about a half an hour before realizing I had to SHOOT THE TRACK SIGNS.
Think about that for a second. None of the scientists used guns. What, would the guards wait for people to come then just shoot the signs?
A better plan would be for track switch controls to be in the security stations or somewhere along the path.
I do believe regular tram users would turn the track swithers with their hands instead of shooting at them. Not the most user-friendly system out there, but hey, it was 1998…
how convinient, getting out, risking steping on the yellow thing and dies from electrocution, get there, try to twist the tracks, at the risk of craping yourself. yeah, its a good sistem:retard:
Exactly, a method controlled by the security guards, like at that part with the crane blocking the way, would make more sense.
More like the 1950s, and that is exactly how old track switches work. You have to use them by hand right there.
And you wouldn’t actually have to get off the train in HL to use it, just back up. It’s easy.
I agree that shooting the track signs isn’t very realistic, but I say keep it as it is. It’s a game and therefore it’s allowed to sacrifice realism for fun
if they can do it in the movies, why not in BM?
If hillbillies can fire at roadsigns, why can’t Gordon do it?
Also: Maybe every scientist in BM has a gun in their pocket.
In all fairness, I don’t think that tram was meant to be used by the scientists as much as the maintenance team, who’s job is allowed to be a bit more dangerous, jumping over to switch the tracks and all that nonsense.
actually it always reminded me of Homer Simpson using his gun to turn off the lights by shooting them one by one…
it doesn’t bother me to switch the tracks like in the original (only using physics), but it should also be usable “manually”. unless the mechanism’s usage is changed altogether
Its a good mini puzzle to shoot the track switches, its not hard to figure it out, I could do it when I was 10 ffs, dont ask the team to dumb the game down thats exactly what all developers are doing these days.
I wouldn’t say changing it to a simple button would be dumbing it down but as far as I can tell the designers are going above and beyond to create realistic and believable environments.
In my opinion, a track control system that is operated by ballistics makes about as much sense as a bag of otters and custard.
Would you rather chance shooting a lever stuck to the ground?
You have never had otters and custard before
I do recommend it.
Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
