in america first you get the diaper, then you get the crib, then you get the weemin

The irony being that barely a year ago, Shaney was throwing a hissy fit about how we all think Muslims are terrorist and that we shouldn’t base our opinions on the action of individuals.

hahaha I know dude, I was simply bein sarcastic about the 'merica thing and you know that

@bolteh, keep your Irony to yourself, I don’t need to remind you of your jokes either

Oh, so you are shadi.

Welcome to Last Town. Population: You.

you’re all sooooo funny

In other news, Paleontologists bitching about Jurassic park not having feathers on their dinosaurs like it matters and that someone actually cares.

The part that I love is that they are saying that is an insulting fallacy because velocoraptor and trex had feathers, when 20 years ago, they would have said having mammal skin would be an insulting fallacy because dinosaurs were actually lizards.

Twenty years from now they are going to get bored with their feather theory and some new exciting thing will pop up as absolute fact when no one actually has a fucking clue.

They should retcon Back to the Future 2 because we are clearly not going to have mass produced flying cars and hoverboards by 2015.

maybe micheal j fox goes on to do something that prevented that stuff from being invented after he got back

idiots

actually they know they had feathers because they found fossils showing feathers

it’s not a “new exciting thing”, it’s new knowledge that we didn’t have 20 years ago

yes, maybe 20 years from now there will be more stuff we’ll know

thats how science works

dinosaurs were never lizards, they’re dinosaurs

i agree that i’s not an insulting fallacy though, it’s just an oversight or maybe a design decision or whatever

It’s an inherently silly argument because the movie was made way before the whole dinosaurs have feathers thing.

Or are we not talking about the 3D remake here?

Actually, during the preparation of the first JP scientist were finding fossils left and right that indicated the presence of feathers, so they could’ve added them in time. And the theory of the possibility of feathers was already proposed back in the 60s or so, so it’s not like it was a complete surprise.

The creators just didn’t want to hear of it (probably because fuzzy dinosaurs are too adorable). By the time Lost World and JP3 were released, the theory of feathers was widely known and accepted, but they still refused to add them (other than the 2-3 feathers on most (not even all) raptors in JP3).

Apparently they’re making a JP4 and there won’t be feathered dinosaurs either.

Or, you know, they just want to keep their continuity consistent.

Still, it’s good that they’re sticking to their vision.

But the point is that they had “knowledge” that dinosaurs had lizard skin before, they had/have prints of it in mud fossils. The fact is, it’s all conjecture, and I think it is particularly foolish to assume we now have the truth when the “truth” is constantly being overwritten, using circumstantial evidence. I’m not saying that dinosaurs didn’t have feathers per se, I’m saying I think it’s foolish to say “dinosaurs DID have _________”.

And what I was originally saying is that it is completely retarded to want a movie to change it’s canon because “they have to have feathers now”. That’s like saying the next alien movie needs the aliens to gestate for at least 2 weeks and need at least a month’s time to grow to full size with a proper source of nutrients because it’s impossible in it’s current form. :stuck_out_tongue:

the dinosaurs arnt like proper dinosaurs they are weird monsters made by scientists using some dino dna remember it doesnt even matter

good point

also, rot, no one asserted absolute truth

it’s clear at least some dinosaurs had feathers, coincidentally near the time where dinosaurs disappeared

ABSOLUTE TRUTH!!!

There, now someone has asserted it

Oh, sorry I wasn’t suggesting anyone here had, it was in the article I was reading. :stuck_out_tongue:

Technically when Jurassic Park was initially filmed most people thought (most) dinosaurs didn’t have feathers…

That said they’re dumbasses (more so than normal) for bitching about it. The film’s being redistributed in theaters for some in-explainable reason that I can’t possibly fathom in 3D this time. A waste of money that could be better spent on developing a new topic instead of rehashing the same ol’ shit.
