In Time is actually a movie Iāve been meaning to watch. From the same guy who wrote and directed Gattaca, The Trueman Show and Lord of War (all good and interesting movies imo). Also how can you call it stupid since a lot of sci-fi has gotten away from the using science fiction as a guise to comment on modern culture and from just reading In Time summaries you can tell its supposed to be a comment on how life is something money can buy. At the very least it attempts to do justice to the sci-fi genre (not ragging on dumber sci-fi I like that too). Maybe he didnāt do a terrific job writing this one (I havenāt gotten around to watching it) But at the very least the writer isnāt terrible and it wasnāt stupid of the studio to greenlight it.

Iām not upset about how deep it is. I just hate the premise of using lifetime as currency. Itās so abysmally stupid a concept to me that I donāt even care what the movie is actually trying to comment on.
But money being a means of accounting for time or labour is an ancient idea and like the basis of economics. the movie is just playing with the idea of removing the layer of abstraction that exists between the two. Its a thought experiment or a What If? comic. It doesnt do it super well but yours is the dumbest critique of it possible
The metaphor is fine, using it as the main plot driver for a wannabe-realistic action movie is not. Yo can only suspend disbelief so far before it becomes an annoying distraction. Should have ditched it completely, e.g. Brazil.
And yet I rather liked āIn Timeā. Kinda hokey or simple, but all in all I liked it. āInceptionā was cool at first but then I got a headache trying to keep up with the switcheroos. āThe Adjustment Bureauā was brilliant in my opinion tho.
I liked Repo Men better than all 3 of the above movies.
