Just do like I do when I encounter such words, change your pronunciation of it to the opposite of however the people currently around you that way you are consistently pronouncing things in a fashion that annoys those around you.

The word they took the name from is pronounced Mooh-jeng, but since they took the umlaut out I pronounce it Moh-yang as well, though I’ll sometimes alternate between the two.

That always bothered me for some reason.

I pronounce it similar to mahjong, “moh-jahng”, maybe “moh-jayng” sometimes.
