Well, I just got really excited about BM. Maybe it’s the summer, but I decided to look at the FAQ. I saw that in BM, the scientist that Eli was afraid to move was Kleiner, which I know is wrong.

  1. If you saw your former student, wouldn’t greet him pretty friendly? Yes you would, you wouldn’t just say “Greetings.”
  2. The true Kleiner is most likely the scientist you meet at the end at the Lambda core, the one with Barney and the Long-jump Module. I say this because this Scientist is holding a shotgun, which is mirrored in HL2 after arriving from Nova Prospect.

Those are why I think the scientist at the Lambda core should be Kleiner in BM, not the other one. Thoughts?

Marc Laidlaw - a Valve team member and author of Half-Life’s backstory - has bluntly stated that the scientist with Eli at the beginning of the game is Kleiner.

The choice to have Kleiner where he is in the FAQ is based on things Valve have said about where they ret-con’d him to be. I doubt they’ll change that.

cuz they probably dont have the actual person that did Kleiner’s voice. so theyll probably try to imitate him to the best of their voicing skills

If they imitate him, he will -more or less- sound like Kleiner.

If I recall, the devs decided years ago that Kleiner’s original voice sounds too “sterile.” They fought for a while over what his new voice should sound like, and finally settled on Fat Albert four or five months ago. Shame, too; I was rooting for Gilbert Gottfried.

They should have had rapping scientists in HL1. That would’ve rocked.
