The Rage Topic

As someone who attended Tea Party rallies in the early days, why precisely are you calling them terrorists? I’m pretty sure they haven’t blown up any buildings…

Political terror tactics. They are the ones that shut down the government in protest of a signed in law that the Supreme Court upheld.

The Tea Party was taken over by zealots after the early days. They are not the party they initially claimed to be. They are quite the opposite now.

So… I upgraded my GPU. Now the multiplayer mod I play the most commonly (Fortress Forever) keeps giving me a “Steamvalidation rejected” whenever I try to join a server (local works fine).

Oh that’s just fucking dandy. It’s on Valve’s end. Brb, going to go bitch.

This pretty much sums up what you want to explain.

Same with this.

Ah yes, Arron Sorkin. I often disagree with his politics, but damn that man has a talent for dialog.

GOD DAMN IT, my fucking mouse button decided to back out of this page and made me lose everything I typed. Fuck.

Anyway:

Implying the Tea Party is the “American Taliban” is horrendously awful as a metaphor. The Tea Party does not go around killing people, and I resent the implication that it is just as bad. Say what you will about the religious bent of the party now, but they are the only people far enough right to actually take a stand and fight government spending to the last man. Rand Paul, Ted Cruz, and senators like them are trying like hell to take down the ACA, and with good reason. The law is a perfect example of bloated, aimless government spending, and the Tea Party backed hard-asses in the House are the only people trying to stop it.

The employer mandate to the law basically strong arms any American business into providing health insurance for any employee they hire. Problem with this is that it just discourages job creation, since insurance costs would be a dealbreaker. Small businesses couldn’t afford to hire new people at all, and big companies will get around the law by knocking existing workers to part time and dumping costs on taxpayers. So what’s the point of the mandate if it doesn’t actually do anything aside from kill the job market and create a bigger tax burden?

The health care exchange has been a big flop too- the whole site is constantly down from the overflow of people trying to use it, and considering that the site cost over $500 million to make, that’s a rather massive blunder. As for it making health care more affordable, our household’s rates have gone up because my health care though my parents, which before the ACA enacted allowed me to be covered by both plans and get very cheap doctor visits, now prohibits this practice. So I sure as hell didn’t see my coverage cheapen at all. Then there was all of that hullabaloo with “You can keep your doctor.”

I was quite calm the entire time actually. Not once did I really insult her, besides to say she is selfish. However, she was not. I didn’t say any of that in an effort to be a scornful, prideful SOB. I said it because it’s the honest truth and she needed to see that. She IS a very selfish person, focusing only on herself normally and pushing anyone else’s problems away, blaming everyone but herself when people don’t want to talk to her. I’ve actually been stewing this for awhile, and I really felt it needed done.

There isn’t much more story to this besides what I’ve said and what you’ve read. To be fair, I didn’t “give up” on her. I didn’t say I was. What I did say was what was annoying me most, and SHE gave up and exploded.

What about the bloated salaries and pensions the congress men/women get. We also spend 6 times what other countries spend on Military budgets.

Farther there is overlap inside of the Federal, State, and Local governments. Eliminating these will go FAR in terms of conjuring up a useful budget.

Here we agree. I won’t argue the points of the bill because it becomes WAY too complex.

Suffice to say it should be there to allow the lower income classes to get health care. But at the same time let people opt out who don’t want it. That’s my stance on the matter.

And farther, that’s to be expected with any server that has large amounts of traffic. Black Mesa’s crashed because of the sheer volume of people trying to connect.

Going so far as to call them Terrorists would actually be justified, because over all, they’ve turned into a shadow of their former selves. They’re holding the WORLD economy hostage. Not just the American economy.

If we don’t make a budget and hit the Fiscal Cliff (again) and default, the world economy will collapse as well. A LOT of people and governments rely on Federal bonds. Those bonds become useless once we default. Guess what happens beyond that.

After things stabilize at the rock bottom, some other nation will pick up the slack. I suspect the Chinese.

Edit: I managed to get a fix to my previous issue with the help of a friend and some clever thinking. If you use Source 2006 to play multiplayer mods and are having the same issue, check Help & Support.

^I agree, Congress gets paid far, far too much for the small amount of work they do. Reductions in military spending would also be nice. I mean, why are we still maintaining bases in Japan and Korea? Those areas have been geopolitically stable for almost half a decade, barring North Korea throwing tantrums to get foreign aid money.

I am absolutely indiscriminate when it comes to spending reform. We simply cannot afford to continue this level of spending, regardless of your political platform or ideals.

And the only reason the Tea Party is holding ground in the House is because, quite simply, there’s no other way to make people listen. Of course, the administration is absolutely not willing to budge in any way on the ACA. Before tossing about blame, ask yourself:

Is the ACA a sane, rational, fiscally responsible solution for health care reform?
Is the president being unreasonable in demanding that his pet bill be allowed to be funded, with no adjustments for the political reality? (After all, the Tea Party candidates wouldn’t have assumed their offices if people weren’t agreeing with them. They wouldn’t have won their elections.)

Its concept is sound. How it’s implemented isn’t.

Every developed country (barring third world ones) near to or on the cultural level of the US has universal Health Care; Canada, the UK, Germany, France, New Zealand. Those are just a few, and they’re working just fine.

This is just the first iteration of the bill that needs to be revamped significantly. People want the healthcare; hell I want the healthcare so people’ll stop bitching. It’s a matter of finding the right middle ground.

There are other methods to make people listen other than holding the fucking economy hostage. Do you honestly think the millions of people who are on Furlough, those veterans who rely on their benefits to live, and a whole slew of other people are going to care about what they have to say?

This is not sane in any way, shape, or form. This is in my backyard, I live in Northern VA. I know several people who are affected by this. Many of them are fed up with the shit going on and want a more permanent resolution to be reached. As it stands, it will take years for the fucking ACA to be implemented anyway. This has a more immediate impact in the fact the economy’s collapsing if nothing is done.

I’ve despised the conservative party from the get-go, it’s antics like this that make me despise them. First it was their irrational stance on Video Games, now it’s their irrational attitude to change of any kind (good or bad). This country’s moving to a new era. The culture’s different than the politics atm, it’s still lagging behind.

The ACA is already a huge compromise. Probably a lot larger than it should’ve been. And there are a lot of problems with the ACA because of it. But it’s a start. We can fix the problems and make it better.

The argument that mandatory health insurance would be detrimental to employment is complete and utter bullshit. Just look at the many countries who have implemented it successfully.
You don’t even need to do that though, if you just think about it. If everyone is operating under the same rule, then how could it possibly lead to fracturing and inequality in employment policies?
Quite the contrary to your statements is true. If you allow people to opt-out of health insurance, those who have access to private health insurace paid out of their own pocket would have a huge, unfair advantage in the work market, since they would effectively and immediately be cheaper for employers.

That’s as far as my opinion on Obamacare goes though, since I really don’t know much about it.
From what I’ve heard, I’d be against it if I did, based on comparison with a planned Romneycare package (which would obviously be tailored for the elite).

On another note, fucking M$. I want only the contents of cells in Excel to be copied by default. I couldn’t find it in the options, so I googled it. All the instructions to change the default setting refer to settings that aren’t in the options menu for me :fffuuu:

^ Can’t you use “Paste Special” for that?

Check the bottom of this article for statistics on raw health care related things. The US is relatively competitive in the health care industry circa 1996, without the extra expenditures incurred from a socialized “single payer system.”

It also helpfully summarizes many socialized medicine countries. I’ve been trying to figure out the tax rates of these countries as a result of their programs, however. It’s very difficult to find relevant statistics at times. I don’t wish to blithly blurt out things like “But x country has long waits for the most basic of surgeries” without sourcing some data. (On that note, the US has more cardiac bypass surgeries than any other country listed. FAST FOOD FOR DA WIN.)

In the interest of not double posting, why the fuck am I always attracted to people that wind up being completely different than I expect them to be? Ugh.

I’m 100% sure that Western European socialized healthcare systems are way more effective than whatever you have in the US. In terms of access and affordability, and probably without any appreciable difference in quality.

i don’t even know anymore im just pissed as shit

What’s got you hot under the collar? Something happen?

Haven’t had any problems with Firefox in the last year or so.
