The Rage Topic

Easier said than done. I’m still waiting to go back to work. The money I have now just barely covers my expenses with just a bit of money over for a small luxury here and there. I should be going back to work very soon.

I still have one monitor (19") and I might be able to borrow a second monitor from my brother, but it pisses me off that this 28" monitor, costing me over $500, is, for all intents and purposes, dead.

Yeah, it pissed me off too. I spent $250 on a 5 ms refresh rate 24" or so (not bothering to measure) after my old Viewsonic (18-19") died. It cost me around $250 for the first one, and I had the thing since '05 I think. I got the new one from Costco so it was like 60% off or something of that sort… so it’s about as expensive as yours…

Make sure to get it with a valid warranty next time.

I’d shop around on New Egg and such and compare prices plus shipping when you get around to buying a new monitor.

Still better than your computer suddenly dying after 5 years, just before you have surgery so you can’t do anything about it for a while.

I finally went and bought a CPU cooler, so now I can test what the problem is. Probably the MOBO died, but it might still be the graphics card, the PSU or the CPU… :frowning:

My GPU of around 3 years is making funny noises (fan’s being iffy when starting up/restarting). So I may need to replace that soon as well…

you guys should get reputable parts, im still running with this 5yr old hardware(including the 3 screens) 100% stable because I clean the gpu fan regularly and my cpu doesnt even have a fan (due to giant heatsync)

Yeah I’m pretty sure my computer died because of the dust. I live in a very dusty area, I have a very dusty room, I rarely dust it off, and I hadn’t cleaned out my computer in months or maybe years, all the while not caring about overheating it while gaming.

I think a circuit burnt through on my MOBO or something. At least I hope so, that would probably be the cheapest thing to replace. I’m poor :frowning:

Maybe dust your room next time?

I do it every couple of weeks I guess. Meh.

My dad is one of those people who shouldn’t be on facebook. He’s alienated virtually anyone he knows due to constant political shitposting and links to conspiracy theory websites. Ugh.

^ I feel bad for you, bro…

Well, for the time being, my brother loaned me two small monitors that he was not using. So, now I have a tri-monitor setup for the time being to replace the large monitor’s death.

Left monitor: Acer X203H - 20" - Max resoution: 1600x900
Middle monitor: Insignia NS-24L240A13 - 24" - Max resolution: 1920x1080
Right monitor: Samsung Syncmaster 940BW - 19" - Max resolution: 1440x900

So, this is a weird setup.

The Samsung is kind of dim, though, so I’ll mainly use that one for things that I don’t need to have dead-on color for.

My aunt did something like that. I accidentally left Twitter logged in on her computer and then when I next checked it, there were a whole bunch of shitposts about the political parties she doesn’t like. Thankfully, I have no followers, so I don’t suppose it really alienated anyone.

Also, one of the filesharing sites I’ve started to use pretty frequently has logged me out and their login page isn’t working. It’s only some thing that are inaccessible to guests, but those are usually the best things.

I once had a facebook account and got random people sending me messages. I had no idea who they were.

Tell me. Do you ever get viruses on your computer?

If so, do you blame Windows for it?

If not, is it because you protected your computer well enough?

Every American knows this so I’ll just say it anyway: Congress is fucking stupid.

The shut down couldn’t be adverted and at this rate it isn’t going anywhere. I wish they’d take the time to throw themselves out…

i have a friend at work who’s brother signed her up (without her knowing) on the personals section of craigslist and she still gets texts about it to this day, so it could be worse

[EDIT: @ the person whose dad sucks at facebook]

I so do love it when my boss changes something in field without telling me and expects me to magically know what things are suppose to be like when designing things that interact with those changes.

“No, the stairs can’t connect there.”

Why not?

“We didn’t build that, and we aren’t going to.”

Well when were you going to tell me that? You waited until two days after I designed the stairs to let me know they were wrong! You didn’t even look at what I did two days ago until today…

Boss: Hey, this is broken and needs to be fixed
Me: Ok, I need $400 for parts and It will take me one whole day.
Boss: WOAH THERE, that costs too much, do it for less that $200, labor included
Me: Can’t be done, part costs $400. Talk to me when we have the cash
Boss: I think it can be done for less and you are not trying hard enough to get cheap parts
6 months later
Boss: Hey, this really needs to get fixed, we have the $400
Me: There was a run on metals in china 3 months ago, the part now costs $600
Boss: WOAH THERE, we don’t have $600 and you said it costs $400
Me: That was 6 months ago, I have no control over metals futures
Boss: We can’t afford that now
6 months later
Boss: this is broken, and the city says they will fine us if it is not fixed in 30 days
Me: Great, give me your credit card and I will have it fixed the day after the parts get here
Boss: Ok, but i need to make the final call on prices because we don’t have any money right now
Me: No, I will fix it, no matter how much it costs so we do not have to pay for the the cost of the future part and a fine from the city
Boss: Still, we don’t have any money now, so spend some time trying to find cheaper parts
Me: Ok, but it will be on the clock
1 month later
Boss: Shit, the city fined us $1000, why didnt this get fixed!!!1
Me: Because I never got to buy the parts, because you were convinced it could be found cheaper. It can’t
Boss: I dont belive you!
Me: then pay the fine and pay someone else to do it
Boss: But that will cost twice as much as having you buy the parts and doing the labor
Me: rageface
