hearing about debt makes me shiver to my bones
it’s destroyed too many lives
Blech, Windows 8 is a pain in the ass.
For the trade school I’m starting, I need a laptop, and I wanted it to be a linux box, because I’ve long since learned my lesson about trying to develop code in a Windows environment. So I ordered a mid-range ASUS notebook and had it delivered with rush shipping. It has Windows 8 on it. It has a single 500GB hard drive. I’ve decided to hang on to Windows for now, rather than doing a straight-up format. Ideally, I’d like to shrink the windows partition way the hell down - to something like 60 or maybe 80 GB, so that the vast majority is available for linux.
…but Windows has some stupid file stuck right in the middle of the damned drive, and I can’t shrink the partition beyond that stupid file, so as things stand, fully half of the drive will remain dedicated to the Windows install I’ll probably never use unless I want to play a game that doesn’t run on Linux.
Right now I’m running MyDefrag’s super-intense system disk defragger/reorganizer, and I’m hoping that it grabs whatever this stupid thing is and sticks it at the top of the drive with the rest of Windows. If it doesn’t, I’m not really sure how I’m going to proceed.
Windows assigns certain blocks to specific areas of the drive. That’s why when defragging you see blocks marked as immovable.
It turns out it was a block reserved by the restore point system. Turned that off and I was able to delete the corresponding files and shrink the Windows partition to a much more reasonable 100-ish GB.
Now I just have to figure out why GRUB didn’t install alongside Xubuntu, making Linux technically installed but impossible to boot into.
ESO is taking an insane amount of time to install. I left it on overnight and it’s only at 18%. At this rate, I won’t finish it before the weekend is over.
my sister sis making me watn to jump off the tallest building i can find
Why not push her off instead?
i wouldn’t do that
filthy casual
Sister sis?
lol
My little sister drives me crazy too. She hates me, and takes every opportunity she can to accuse me of doing things horribly wrong.
Dear god, I had forgotten how frightening “leapers” were in Turok: Dinosaur Hunter.
They’re about as formidable as xenomorphs.
Fucking Windows 8.1 is such garbage. For so many reasons. Today I discovered that WET is all but disabled in W8.1, which means I’m moving data over the network manually. I suppose I could have found another utility, but this is just another of the multitude of stupid decisions behind the whole Windows 8 concept. FUCK!
The more I hear about Win8.1, the more secure I feel in having not upgraded to it.
EDIT: As for more rage- Statistics is very jargon heavy and difficult to wrap my head around. Fucking requirements.
DOUBLE EDIT: You know what, never mind. People I know could easily Google this.
Microsoft should’ve just waited until technology was advanced enough for users to be able to target the small UI elements of the windows, now “classic” desktop. Instead of completely redesigning it. Samsung is already there with the “hover” technology on the S4 and Note 3 where you get a visible mouse cursor under your thumb while hovering all around the screen.
Okay. Instead of posting this in the Escapist forums, I’m just going to drop this here:
Fuck EA. Fuck. Them.
I hope you crash. I hope you fucking burn and die a HORRIBLE AND EXCRUTIATING DEATH.
Why? You fucking deserve it. Dungeon Keeper SHOULD be last massive fuck up you make or you’ll just fuck your audience away. But of course, you’re just defending it like the asshole you don’t want to come across (which, by the way, you’re totally coming across as a massive gaping rectum).
That description defines EA perfectly by the way. Assholes. Just a hole where the best thing that can come through is a fucking fart.
And we all know they’re way too cowardly to stick some beads in there.
There’s nothing wrong with Dungeon Keeper on mobile as a game. The only (albeit giant) sin they have committed, is that they butchered an amazing franchise to be a Farmville-esque timesink.
And EA designed it to be a Farmville-esque timesink, so in their eyes, they have done nothing wrong. But tell that to the thousands of raging Dungeon Keeper fans.
Also, EA isn’t forcing you to play. It’s not like they first released a proper Dungeon Keeper port only to patch all this money-grabbing bullshit in after a month. If you don’t want to play it, don’t play it.
