they sound like wonderful parents.
Or an attention whore.
Only on the quantum level.
It helps to play along if they’re psychos. Seriously, any normal person wouldn’t be that shocked if their teenage children did stuff they didn’t approve of and they certainly wouldn’t stop paying for all of that shit.
^This. It is normal that a children doesn’t approve with everything his parents say because he is a person on its own, thinks differently, has a somewhat different environment, etcaera. Especially at “teenageness”, where the parents kind of become something the teenager just plain doesn’t want to agree with.
If the parents can’t understand that there may be a problem with them, and if they stop feeding, housing and paying for you, damn they need help and fast. But out of curiosity, Deadline, are they devout Christians?
I was thinking more out of gratitude, but hey, you can be a dick if you so desire.
There’s a difference between showing gratitude and being a slave. There’s also a difference between being a dick and having a different opinion.
WHAT’S UP WITH PEOPLE WHO STILL RICK ROLL
Yup. Tread the line carefully.
Or just ignore it completely.
You got Ruth-Roll’d, didn’t you…
Out of curiosity, what does that have to do with anything? :brow:
Well if you want to be an ungrateful bastard, sure. A lot of people are.
I feel like this is going to turn into a religious argument, but that would mean they may be bound by more ancient traditions, habits, that don’t promote kids’ ability to express themselves.
Puts on flame-suit
For a rage thread that makes me feel strangely apathetic.
First Rick Roll’d, then Rebecca Black’d
They’re both Mormons. My mom grew up in Utah, AKA Mormon HQ and my dad was raised by hardcore Mormons.
So any time someone pays for something in your life you feel obliged to do whatever they say? I’m not a leech: I respect my parents because they raised me with care, not because of money. They haven’t thrown money at me and I’d respect them less if they had.
Jesus, you have messed up values.
when someone pays for everything you need for 18 years straight you should feel the need to be respectful towards them yes
No, money is immaterial. If my parents paid my way through life for 18 years and treated me like shit I don’t think I’m obliged to give them an ounce of respect.
