So you all know I love public transportation. But the last few days have been a hell 
Yesterday
Hot day in la Belgica. I stop working at 16:45, catch a bus to the trainstation at 16:58. I arrive at the trainstation, head over to the busstation close by to catch the 17:15 bus I need to go home. Said bus does not arrive. At 17:35, some guy of the bus company hops over to say that the bus broke down due to the heat, and that a replacement bus will arrive at 17:30 (yes, 5 minutes ago) and 17:45.
Seeing as the 17:30 didn’t come, the 17:45 arrived on time… But the doors didn’t open. he apparently got orders to go to another route and do that one. Bus cancelled. The same guy from before tells us that a correct bus will arrive in a minute or so.
A minute later, that bus does arrive, and just when it’s driving up to the platform, it breaks down as well, not only blocking said platform, but also blocking the entire road it was coming from, both ways. This resulted in a complete hold of buses, trams and cars for about 20 minutes. When the bus finally took off, it was stuck in traffic half the time.
Result: instead of getting home at 17:45, I got home at 18:40 (though I received a Pepsi to make things better)
Today
Because of the pisspoor performance of the buscompany yesterday, some punks beat up a busdriver. The other busdrivers figured that would be a good excuse to strike, so they did. The entire public transportation in the city was down the entire day (well, they agreed to get back to work at 18:00 if their requirements were met by the management of the buscompany… The requirements were met, but they didn’t get back to work because he company didn’t want to pay them today because of the strike).
So i’m done with work… Not able to get home. Walked for 20 minutes in the blistering sun to the closest tramstation, but seeing as it’s the same company that runs the trams, that was a bust as well… So I hitched a ride back home from a friend of my father who happened to pass by.
Worst. Traffic. Ever.Traffic jams all over the place. Took an hour and 20 minutes to get home (normally takes about 20 minutes by car, 30 minutes by bus). And today I wasn’t met by a Pepsi :’()
Additionally, the guitar shop finally called that my guitar is all fixed and set up and that I could go and pick it up… Which I couldn’t do because of the strike/shitty traffic.
Grmbl.
And no, a car wouldn’t have saved me the past few days. If anything, going by car on Tuesday was more dreadful than going by bus on Monday.
The way I sit behind a computer doesn’t allow for much room to place a fan.

Mine was a free upgrade, and it still falls apart and had garbage battery life within less than a year of getting it.
