I think you are thinking a bit too creatively here. Because they signed up for steam greenlight, they had to sign an NDA. Just by being in the Greenlight program, they had to sign this document. So no matter how small their project for Xen is, they still cannot talk about it. That is really it.
So you’re not allowed to get community feedback or give updates on a mod you’re making if it’s for greenlight? Why would Valve even do that? It just seems so restrictive for a company that is normally very open towards modding and has a rich history of working with the communities of their games.
Xen has always been a suprise.Even without the NDA, they wont even talk about it or release any kind of media that is related to it due an NDA in the team itself.
That is not what it means…what it means is we cannot discuss what we or they are doing until we are told we can.
And as you guys have said many times that xen is to be a surprise media on it is not going to happen?
off topic isn’t DM being worked on before xen if so that explains the time, balancing multiplayer is a pain in the ass (beta tested a few).
I am pretty sure they said the opposite, that deathmatch would be worked on after Xen.

It looks like the Russian made Xen is simply a reskin of the exact original levels, but Gonarch is missing. I guess the new model and animations were never finished for either of the recreations? Would it be possible to just put the original back in somehow even if it looks low-def?
My guess would be that the programming isn’t finished in the current release of Black Mesa.
That, or the Gonarch level has changed significantly to the point where it doesn’t work correctly with the original level layout.

They gotta hurry up with Xen already so it can be released and steam can finally release the full game for download. Hopefully it will be done soon

canon wise it happens during the events of xen, yet it isn’t seen in game play at any point, and is mentioned in hl2 at a few points. My wonder is this, how do you think it would play out if it was in game? (the devs more then likely will not add it)
It happens directly after you kill the Nihilanth. They can’t rise up until the Nihilanth is killed because he is directly controlling them. So not exactly “during” xen.
never once states that Nihilanth is controlling them, its stated that that thing has power over them but never that Nihilanth is controlling them, in fact there is atleast one spot where they defy it in the game by not attacking.
