Hurr.
Nice, ass, amigo.
May I suggest you guys make it a bit louder?
90% of the time I didn’t even hear it. It’s so quiet, which doesn’t make sense for a PA system.
Doctor Freeman, please grenade your violated ass.
Capture. Your. Yankee. Ass.
Ass. Access. Acknowledged.
Military. Detected. System. Terminated.
Too much “ass” in this thread :fffuuu:
I hope they remake the voice almost exactly the same. I’m very happy with its current low-pitched, robotic style.
Me too. I just want it to be loud enough to hear this time.
Strangely, I thought it sounded terrible. Only thing worse than it would be Microsoft Sam.
Hey, at least it’s not HAL on the PA! “Hey, let me in! This door is locked!”
I’m afraid I can’t do that Mr. Freeman.
Gordave Freeman.
THIS ANNOUNCEMENT SYSTEM IS NOW UNDER MILITARY COMMAND
I loved it when the man voice thingy said that. I always heard that before fighting Marines in Half-Life 1 and the expansion game, Half Life: Decay.
Are you going with the same sentences system as HL, I wonder.
Having that system means you can change pitch and stop/start sounds x% through, but I’m not sure if source has that system…
Example; the “Rock” map in TFC has the vox say ‘gas’, but gas is not an existing vox sound. instead, the sentence is defined as this: got(e15) ass
got ends 15% through, making the two files sound like ‘gas’
Of course, not intended to be modable, black mesa doesn’t need this system, unless some of the speech for NPC’s has shorter versions that it could save space to have just defined in the sentences file.
this thread has stolen my virginity!
I always found the voice to be too distorted to be intelligible. Not just the vocoder sound (although that seriously doesn’t help) but the doppler effect and echo stacked on top of the vocoder effect, along with the fact that it often played from a location far off leading to it being somewhat low as well. I don’t think I know a single Vox line from Half-Life, because I could never understand the goddamn thing.
I won’t be disappointed if they change it to be more intelligible, but I’m not holding my breath.
Nice bump.
I’ve kinda lost the track…whats going on here?
Nothing important. We played with a soundboard for a while and then THE THREAD DIED LIKE THREADS SHOULD. >
Yes, it should be dead, SO STOP POSTING IN IT
