The man voice thingy

In half-life you seem to come across the man voice thing alot like at the beginning where he says “Doctor freeman report to sector c test labs”

Im just wondering if there will be an update to the voice as it is very…robotic…in the original :3

Yes, the VOX will make a return and still be robotic, I’m sure, or they will make it sound like an actuall PA system.

Text to Speech - may sound like the Black Mesa Computer A.I.

Well, I think the VOX will always sound robotic, since the sentences (such as “Doctor Freeman, report to Sector C test labs”) are made up of single-word files which are put together later in-game, so there’s really no linking between each word. Still, I hope there is an update. I had a bit of a hard time understanding the VOX sometimes.

I would think microsoft sam would do a better job lol

It is intentionally “robotic”, by which you really mean a pre-recorded variable announcement. If you don’t understand the concept then turn off your computer and walk away.

In Black Mesa this voice over has been remade by CatzEyes93, one of BMS teams most talented voice actors and you can listen to it here.

If you don’t like it then go and .

But that’s the tram recording. I’m pretty sure the OP was talking about the male voice one can listen to inside the facility.

I liked it the way it was.

The BM female intercom was slightly comforting, while the male VOX system was cold and menacing, which fitted the whole military command of it.

For someone so categorically wrong you should probably try and be nicer, to stave off the verbal beatings.

I thought it was just bad english. imho.

Ok Grandad. :’(

Edit: Who did the man robot voice?

Just curious, did valve’s sound guys use a text to speech gen to create that voice?

Nope, it was voiced and then distorted.

No it was Vocoded.

ALL. NON-MILITARY. PERSONNEL. REPORT. TOPSIDE. FOR. QUESTIONING.

Doesn’t Rammy sound like that all the time?

I can hardly await hearing it :retard:

Tbh I get the effect just from reading your posts.

Imagine the magnitude of his voice…

Groinal explosion.

That’s what that penis-gib is good for!

Ha i think that would be a gaming first

Genital gibs!
