The Last Film You Saw.

Grabbed Up the other day and had a skim viewing that totaled about 30 mins. Looks stunning.

just watched Max Payne, pretty shite

Saw Where The Wild Things Are, Gran Torino and Surrogates. WTWTA was awesome.

My brother and I watched Better Off Dead on DVD the other day. It wasn’t quite as funny as it was the last time I watched it a couple years ago, but was still quite entertaining

8/10

The Hurt Locker- Factually inaccurate, at least one scene that was unrealistically annoying, but the tension present in this movie is amazing. My experience with “The Hurt Locker” can be pretty much summed up as an 80 minute heart attack.

Overall score is 8/10.

Hot Fuzz

Hot Fuzz was awesome too.

Fish Story

A Japanese movie that came out last year, I know, I’d never heard of it either. I had it recommended to me and I’m really thankful. The movie was a masterpiece (imo of course), pretty much everything about it was perfect. I’m not going to ruin the story here but it’s a story where one event changes the lives of a bunch of different people. Very highly recommended if you can find it.

Just saw the new Alice in Wonderland. Unfortunately, this sums it up right here:

In a few more words, and immortalized by Louis Rogan:

What the shit?

Siskel & Ebert: “two thumbs up”

“up what?”

“up yours!”

Big Trouble. I have seen it before on commercial TV. It was nice to see it on a premium channel for once and not have to flip during commercial breaks. though not one of the best comedies I have ever seen, it is fun and entertaining enough.

Saw one movie last night, Percy Jackson & The Olympians: Lightning Thief. Saw another movie this morning, Be Kind Rewind. The former wasn’t anywhere near as good as the book it was based on, cut and changed too much. The latter was hilarious.

Princess Bride.

:awesome:

Below

So, what do you get when you cross a painfully low budget with a bunch of no-name actors and a dose of low-key suspense?

One of the best horror films I’ve seen in years, as it turns out.

  1. US submarine picks up survivors from a torpedoed British hospital ship. However, it soon becomes clear that said sub got somebody they didn’t count on as well. Somebody gone, but who never actually left. Hilarity ensues!

Saw Alice in Wonderland the day it came out, my friend was on shrooms.

Better than avatar, except for the ending, but the battle between the awesome card people and the chess people was some cool shit.

Jacob’s Ladder.

Maaaaaaaan, good ending. It came in stages. It was a movie that finally took the time to explain the plot after you’ve been healthily confused.

IT WAS AAAALL A DREAM

Saw Alice in Wonderland. Avoid it in the theaters. Good for a rental, but don’t waste the money for theater prices.

The only real decent, memorable character in the whole movie was the Red Queen. The Had Hatter was too much of a gothic Jack Sparrow, which did not fit at all. The White Queen was annoying, as was Alice. The rest of the characters were just either not interesting, or not in enough of the film.

All it did was say “Hey, cool, we can make all of these cool special effects and make you think you’re on drugs when you’re not! WHEHEEEE!!!” The storyline was thin, at best, and more overdone than even Avatar’s plot. Unwilling hero thrust into events beyond his/her control and (s)he has to (wo)man up and defeat the evil champion to gain freedom. Hmm…Braveheart! The Matrix! Gladiator! Lord of the Rings! Seen it! Details, and reasons change, but it’s been done MANY times before. And this one didn’t really even have a compelling reason why Alice was doing it!

It was written in that scroll!

Being one of the primary influences for Half Life, I was naturally curious about reading the Stephen King novella The Mist. So I read it last night, then watched the movie straight afterward. It was a very good adaptation of the book, and was an entertaining movie in its own right, except the ending, which is completely changed from the book, is like a huge kick in the nuts to the viewer. I won’t spoil it for those that haven’t seen it, but the ending is pretty fucking shocking.
