The giant fan on blast pit.

Still I cant see any possibility of crawling into a vent that doesn’t have any kind of ladder mounted to its floor or other velcro walls.

Velcro walls? A ladder mounted on the floor of a vent?

ಠ_ಠ

I am confused.

I hope they don’t change the non-sensical areas too much. Some of those areas were some of the most memerable parts of the game IMO. (The “box crushing” room, the fan, etc.)

I know this is late but, if you think about it basically all of Half Life is not Realistic.

Now I heard a few times about the “box crushing room” but I still don’t know which room it means. Explanation please?

It’s the room with the crates hanging from the ceiling. In Freeman’s Mind he refers to it as the box crushing room.

I don’t see that one making sense. Still a bottomless pit with large walls.

The crates actually go somewhere now instead of being suspended there for no reason, and there is a canal at the bottom.

Didn’t see that though.

Ok lets see…we must make a realistic mod…
HEV suit is unreal so we probably should throw it out.
Next…gauss and egon guns…what the hell is that? it’s not real. Well take that out too…
What creatureas are those? I never saw them before…Monsters that appeared after Resonance Cascade? Oh please! Well cut that out too.
MB facility…giant secret laboratory under ground? Come on, everybody knows that that can’t be real. We’ll cut BM out.
Fuck the realism! I want a Half-Life remake, not a mixed pile of shit consisting of stupid ideas about realism ruining my favourite gameplay. :fffuuu:

What? I’m sick of suggestions about realism. In HL you had to be fast as hell to climb up those stairs and not get killed. That was a challenge. But if there will be a control room then there would be no challenge. BMS devs can make that room more logical like this would be the only way to start it because other way is blocked. That’s how it should be.

i am pretty sure thats not the only way to turn on the fan. The button underneath is most likely a way to turn it on manually and like most designs and movies and games etc including real life situations, the manual override is always in a complicated or stupid place… :stuck_out_tongue: .

Like to turn on a coolent system for this giant steam ship(cant remember which movie it was) the overide button was past hundreds of random scolding hot pipes that if you touched with a heat resistant suit on would burn or melt your skin off  .

Another example would be from Irobot, the ending where they have to manually shutdown the giant security robot brain thing and it was like on the top floor with like a foot wide bridges across to the console and its like 500 feet high  .

and i could mention more but you know you get the picture :stuck_out_tongue:

Three words for you: Suspension of Disbelief.

What that means? My english knowledge is far lower that that…

Do not worry, comrade. Black Mesa is not following all of those realism-suggestions you mentioned. Level-design is meant to seem plausible, but game-play will seem the same as HL1.

“Suspension of disbelief” is what a person has when he ignores realism, in order to have more fun.

I love your post! From beginning to the end

Sven Co-op is a good example.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
