The future of multiplayer?

You should count yourself lucky I don’t still have mod powers. You’ve (along with several others) blatantly ignored clearly worded warnings about the forum topic and have been insulting and disrespectful to one of the devs, to boot.
I’d have deleted a bunch of posts, handed out infractions and a few 24 hour bans, and exactly as many useful and constructive posts would be left in this thread.

Personally I found the only server I played on a bit overcrowded and chaotic when I tried out the multiplayer, I thought the players could have stood spreading out to a few more servers. Maybe we all should be more willing to jump into empty or nearly empty servers to encourage others to follow? If five people who look, see empty servers and leave all instead jumped in and ran around for minute, you’d have enough for a modest match.

Mesa Fortress 2 is gonna be a GOTY for sure.

Anyway, back to a more positive note, I’d like to see this happen. ^

Yeah agree I think a few fun nights with the devs is much needed

Well then, let’s get on with it, shall we?

I saw we had a couple offers for server hosting. Do you think we’ll need that, or would BM’s official public servers be suitable for us?

I doubt we’ll actually need it. We can always just schedule a designated time to hop onto official servers and be like YO EVERYONE WELCOME.

… we have a Steam group, don’t we?

Yeah think the Steam group should be enough.
Maybe just more schedule more often?

Well I mean, we’d only have to schedule at all.

Have there even BEEN any scheduled community games recently?

Don’t think so.
Unless you’d count the one during the stream.

We could schedule a couple throughout the week so there’s a good time for as many people, and no one feels left out. A week day and weekend day, like Sunday/Wednesday, or Sat/Tues, etc. whatever everyone seems to agree on. Then we could specify a begin time, and I assume all of the official servers are consistently available and have static IPs, so we can decide on one or two of those ahead of time as well. Make it a regular thing.

Sounds good. Let’s get started like, ASAP. Who wants to do the heavy lifting and schedule this thing? :stuck_out_tongue:

I don’t mind, if that’s something I can be trusted with! Alternatively, if someone less incompetent than I can step up, that’s cool, too.
We’ll need more discussion on what times everyone’s ideally available, though.

Shall we make a thread, then? :stuck_out_tongue:

Or would this one be fine for our purposes?

Try to bear time zones in mind, maybe have the two games a week at quite different times to cover as many as possible.

Had an entire post about that above :stuck_out_tongue:

Will be happy to help with/organise these however I can. The HL1 games we did were always very fun, so this would be a cool way to remind people that MP is a thing, and it’s great.

All the HL1AG clanwars (EHLL matches) are played each sunday… So maybe keep that in mind…

I don’t know what that is our what relevance they have, but I guess since you mention it, possibly something with considering.

I myself am off weekends, but could theoretically attend on any day. More input!

Same.
Except I’m occasionally only available in the evening.

BLACK MESA DEV NIGHT?

I’M ON IT!

Thursday or Friday night sound good?

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
