Well, served with ice cream. A la mode actually means “in the fashion” in French. There are multiple stories about how it came to also mean “served with ice cream” and it appears that no one knows for sure how it came into the lexicon.
Etymology is weird like that. Sort of like how “hammy” acting supposedly originated from the play “Hamlet.”
Back on topic, my current college makes a rather good bacon burger. And Red Storm used to make rather good games.
