The CUSTOMIZATION Thread

I think this is a new idea and i hope everyone likes it.

Bscly post WALLPAPERS, APP SKINS, OS or DOCK ICONS, VISUAL STYLES, APPS or anything else that you have made which comes under the category “CUSTOMIZATION”.

I’m pretty sure a lot of people out here would have, at some point of their lives, made something that would be used to customize the look of their OS or some App etc.

So come out and share your creations with us!

So guys, temme what you think!

Really impressive. Love the GIMP icons and the C & H wallpaper.

On the note of the GIMP icons: why don’t you add all icon sizes into one single file ?

Also needs 256x256 to be honest ? :stuck_out_tongue: Good job!

Itunes icon:

It was stolen off of me last year… Goddamn Faggots.

I don’t understand.:[ All the Gimp icons are already in 1 pack.

And BTW, thanks for your comment buddy!

EDIT :
That ain’t bad at all Adam. Nice look!

What I mean is that an .ico file can store multiple layers  . So if you change your icon size in Windows it will pick the layer of the same res. Therefore you don’t have to rely on the resizing abilities of Windows to show you the 48x48 version of the 128x128 icon…

EDIT: Adam thats genious! I dig that!

Yeah, i know that but i never understood how to do it. Is there any specific way to do that or is just as easy as putting them into separate layers and saving the file?

Depends on the shop* you use I guess. I know how to do it with GIMP. But yes, basically it’s just putting into seperate layers and saving them to a single file. Icon files can also store icos with different palettes. You can choose on export in gimp in which palette a layer should be stored in. You can also force png compression on them.

I like the real player icons, Im so using them… is it for real player or just icons?

so if i store all the gimp icons in one .ico file it’ll automatically save it as an icon that windows can choose the res from?

Yep, if your project has several layers in it GIMP will store them all as icon layers in one .ico file. Windows can then use them.

Do you have any more of that style?

Not like this no, but I will make some more soon.

A wallpaper I made long time ago. Basically copy-pasting a bunch of cube primitives, taking a shitload to render (but not really), then fixing the color a bit, but meh, I think it’s rather nice.

And there’s this awesome screenshot of the Ep. 2 Citadel Vista which I played with in Ps and find quite kick-ass:

And, there’s this. I dare you use it.

I really like that one. Mind if I use it? Although it might end up looking kinda wonky on my 1280x800 screen…

And no way, I am totally NOT using that cockamamie Mona Lisa of yours. It is scary as hell.

This wallpaper is pure WIN!!!

Thanks a lot for your contributions guys! You’ve helped make this thread worthwhile!

And Spooks, i LOVE that friggin awesome Nigga Lisa wallpaper! Where’d you get it?

That’s a sweet compilation man! But Is it possible to tweak the colours so they’re all the same? Hobbes changes quite obviously.

But again, sweet idea.
.

Calvin and Hobbes are epic. B)

^Too true ^_^. Got all the book compilations, and the huge 3-book collection with every comic.
