Game mode I’d like to see

i hope always run is enabled for BMDM, i hate HL2DM walk/sprint movement.

All weapons should be buffed, especially snarks. Too weak.

And remove the ability to destroy Snark weapon pickup, its annoying and it will be abused in BMDM if players keep doing it to each other.

And remember to add the ability to load SP maps and content in BMDM for coop amusement. Generally this will also give player the ability to build coop maps in BMDM, which will be fun. Many SC maps will be remade. Good times.

we should suggest to devs some new gamemode(easy to code!).
Feel free to take “inspiration” by Valve’s multiplayer games.

I’ve seen a new mode in CS:GO Arms Race

It should be quite easy to code and would be really fun!

Weapon progression, imo:
1st weapon: mp5
2nd weapon: Tau
3rd weapon: shotgun
4th weapon: glock
5th weapon: the “almighty” crowbar: just a simple crowbar :slight_smile: , maybe reskinned

Arms Race isn’t new. Gun Games have been around since original CS, used on tons of servers as a mod. All of the sudden, Valve and Activision rip the gameplay elements and slap a name on it and it’s suddenly new. WAT.

I agree, Auto-Run should be enabled if not forced on everyone to make the game more fast-paced.

Gun game is fun. If the BM devs don’t include it as a native mode, someone will mod it, no doubt.

Gun games work better on some maps than others. I don’t know if the devs are so concerned about modding their own game. It’s already a good bit of work to make the game itself. I suspect that they might leave gameplay modes like gun game to the community, but I honestly don’t know. It makes sense to concentrate their time and effort into the game itself, and leave stuff like that to the community.

Calmbrained ideas:
1.Maps.
1.1. Spawnpoints of weapons:
difficulty to obtain proportional to weapons power. Method to archieve that difficulty dont matter, I would leave it to creativity of mapmaker. Weaker weapons would be easy to find and multiple spawnpoints. As for numbers, there could be tiering done to determine number of spawnpoints for each weapon. 2.Weapons. 2.1. Colt: increase its rate of fire, because on DM its slow fire rate is bane of its power. 2.2. Hivehand: lower its damage to have same power as in old HL, because the only reason why it currencly is stronger than before is because its tweaked to be more useful at SP playthrough.
2.3. Snarks: increase theyr speed and maybe make them smaller, as in old HL they were fast and hard to hit with frontal approach.
2.4. MP5: remove burstfire pls! If I want to burst then I can just hold mouse1, I don`t like how game restricts gameplay with this weapon.

Brainstormed ideas:

  • make maps specialized for specific weapons, like glock-only map, rpg-only map, etc.
  • for team vs team game mode if such will be made, scienists vs hecu.
  • support moster spawns to allow some creative maps beign made for mod.
  • xen themed map without ranged weapons, for players to utilize hev suit, granades, other explosives, crowbar- map layout would consist of main island below and small floating islands to jump accross, something like when we first enter Xen on original HL.
  • Colt: I disagree with you, this weapon it’s a mid/long range weapon.
    It’s for sniping.

  • Hivehand: should be nerfed in SP too. it’s really op, kills the fun.
    I would reduce its firing speed and its recharge speed.

  • Mp5: Don’t know, maybe I would reduce it a little but honestly this weapon is more or less the smg of hl2.

  • Snarks: They are really hard to hit even with a shotgun, I would not modify them

I hope there’s a Gordon model, I would love to see the team’s spin on him.

I would die of joy if crystal and sectore are remade (favorite maps).

Please include bunnyhopping and other high skill mechanics or a cvar for it. These kinds of mechanics are staples of deathmatch games and would be very boring with out them. Generally anyone that is uninterested in this type of gameplay wouldn’t stick around for long in a deathmatch game because they’re incredibly basic without it. As it stands there hasn’t been a game like this since hl2dm and painkiller (the remake is too buggy) and there are a lot of people are playing stuff like quake live waiting for a new game to come along.

Really the developers have the choice of making a game that will be popular for a couple of weeks then die off or a game that will be popular for a couple of weeks and have a lasting small to potentially large community.

You guys dont even want to see strafe in BM? Lolwtf. Eh, maybe I should just give up on looking forward to it, because without strafes and bunnyhop on DM its just soo far away from original.

hl - deathmatch was not designed with that in mind, it was part of emergent gameplay by the players, and it is not necesary to bring it back, Look to BMDM just like the changes from TFC to TF2.

Black Mesa Deathmatch should try to come up with its own gamemode. If they can’t do that, put its own spin on a gamemode. Deathmatch gets old after a while…

These people who whine about advanced movement still in HL2DM are just mentally obese. Dumbing shit down continually is anti-evolutionary and results in a culture of laziness. Add some depth to this game via CVAR or you’re going to lose a fair number of players and more than a couple of quality mappers.

^This is crap my friend. Killbox FFA played by an ineperienced random? Not even close to what is possible in that game. Sadly Valve has fucked it up via neglect and batch updates, which is something BMDM could avoid.

Besides this CVAR issue I`d personally like to see a good amount of beta testing if possible, to track down stuff like hitreg and physics bugs
