The 20,000 Facebook Likes Challenge

Nice new media, but the beginning of the build-up to release is my fav news.
Congrats BM team.

IIRC, if you can run Episode 2 you can run this.

That may have changed since they first said that though.

This makes Half-Life 2 look like Half-Life Source did when it was released. Looking forward to seeing what else is to come.

Wow, that didn’t take long.

Is someone making comparison screenshots? Because I love them, and if someone doesn’t do them I’ll start up HL and do then myself.

Some help with locating some of them? The one with the Alien Grunts? The Osprey? The Vort? I don’t recognize those exact locations at all.

It’s over 21,000 likes on fb now

The vort, agrunt (the trapped one) is in Questionable Ethics. The second one, I can’t tell. It looks to be in some kind’ve freezer, so I suspect in QE as well, but I could be wrong, whoever designed the levels can give a better lead to what rooms.

The Osprey is that iconic level on Surface Tension, it’s the only level on which you face an osprey in the original half-life with the RPG in hand. Bull squid’s are in Blast Pit, that first room before the exterior of the silo itself.

What the fuck is with the bullsquid’s eyes? They look awfully close together.

That was just stupid.

Sexy screenshots. But the important thing is “campaign towards our first release”! We’re going to get a release soon! And that’s not even wild speculation.

But what is meant by “first release”? Is that just referring to post release patches, OR SHITLOADS OF 15 DOLLAR MAP PACK DLCs AND A MONTHLY CHARGE FOR “PREMIUM” SERVICES, or something else altogether (co-op anyone? wildly crosses fingers)?

So this looks like just the start of the pre-release hype. I think it might have been better, or just easier, to release the game and let the media handle the hype work, but it really isn’t anything to complain about.

“First release” means single-player only and (that is my theory based on rumors) no Xen :stuck_out_tongue:

Looks ultra awesome, true treat for all of the waiting HL fans out there! Thank god the Black Mesa team can deliver where valve remains silent for years and years. can’t wait for the next media release!

Um, sauce please? BTW, there’s absolutely no reason to believe no Xen. What they’ve said is they’ll keep Xen on a media blackout, but they’ve even implied that they’re not releasing it with the rest of the mod.

All jokes aside: Thanks for the comparison JamesKane: this all looks extremely awesome!!! Good job to everyone on the dev team!!

I just realized how much longer of a game HL1 is to HL2. Shit, this mod is longer than any source game.

You know, one would think that someone who has been a part of this forum long enough to have 1400+ posts would realize that they can not charge for this modification.

There can not be any $15 map pack DLCs or a monthly charge for any services. They do not own the rights to the Half-Life storyline.

Granted, this may turn G-Mod and end up as a paid title on Steam. I don’t see that happening (not at first, anyway).

But how soon is soon?

For a tree, soon can be 20 years. For a mouse, soon can be 5 minutes.
Are you a tree or a mouse?:pirate:

Gutsy question! You’re a shark.
Sharks don’t look back, 'cause they don’t have necks. Necks are for sheep.
Anyways, I got my fins crossed for “in the coming weeks”.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
