Ok this probably doesn’t constitute a new topic, but I wanted to show off my very first texture ever :3
So what do you guys think?
First of all, what is it?
doesn’t tile properly, 0 out of 10.
It doesn’t look like anything. I guess it’s supposed to be wood?
It doesn’t absolutely have to tile, but seamless textures are better and much more useful.
Also you’ve used a ridiculous dimension for it (511 x 511), I’m guessing it was supposed to be 512 x 512.
I set the dimensions in photoshop for 512x512 but I guess something didn’t work right.
yes I forgot to add that it’s meant to be a wood floor.
No I hadn’t bothered to make it tileable, because I wouldn’t have any use for it anyway.
It looks like a texture Thats as far as my knowledge in this area goes, unless it’s a car skin for a racing game
.
What the hell is it? A texture for a bee?
And why are you making textures when you’re not going to use them? The title should be “I fucked around with photoshop and almost made something coherent”
If you want a good wood texture tutorial (particularly to begin with), check this one out:

looks more like a rusty shanty wall. With yellow paint chipping off.
Wow
The flaming! Oh god, the flaming!
Maybe someone else should post a texture, state what its for and possibly skin it on a model?
My first texture was something like 513x758 and besides not being tileable, it had no resemblence to anything that even remotely makes sense.
I used it for a bunch of things, buildings, carpets, walls, even the skybox, I just kept changing the color balance and thought it was realistic.
my first wood texture was just the colour brown and yet it looks better than yours.
nice try… but wouldnt use it.
We could totally start a challenge of finding non-monster object that can use this texture.
The piping on a pair of cheap Korean swimming shorts.
Haha, nice.
this looks like the floor of my cum studio
here it is
maybe i over exaggerated it… but thats my first wood one.
Subtle but visible tile seams, 2/10.
PharCry that looks like a really crummy brown carpet texture, would never guess that was meant to be wood. And yes, you can see the seam without too much trouble.
Here’s my first wood texture:
this was my first texture-ish collage thing. something i never submitted to the community projects, never could get the lighting right, and it wasn’t that much of an effort
