Team Walrus TF2 match? An opportunity for European TF2 fans

Hola guys. I’ll let you know via chat later in case anyone misses this, but in the mean time here’s the skinny:

As some of you are already aware, I’m a member of a European (mainly but not exclusively British) Team Fortress 2 clan called The Sexual Gimps, or TSG. TSG exists under the umbrella gaming community called jarHedz, and they host our servers (jarHedz Fun Servers 1 and 2 and the Animal Server are the ones I usually drag you guys into for a game) and forums, as well as a few other clans for other games and a general gaming community who play on the servers or post on the forums without being in a clan.

Something I’ve been thinking about for a while is trying to get a bunch of the BM community who play TF2 (Team Walrus essentially but not exclusively) together for one or more friendly matches against my clan, just for a bit of semi-competitive fun. Yesterday I ran the idea by my clan leader Russ (you may have seen him in the server as [-TSG-] WildRuss [CL]) and he’s on board, and I then ran the idea by Keresh as figurehead and spiritual leader of Team Walrus and he’s agreed to captain a team. As for my own involvement, I’ve no idea which team, if any, I would play on - either would be a bit weird and traitorous - and if need be I’ll just organise and spectate. Though it would be a shame to just sit on the sidelines. Maybe I could be a floating sub, and play for either team as needed. Anyway, that’s all just detail, along with time/date/format and such, that can be worked out once I hear if anyone’s interested. So what do you say? If there’s enough interest I’ll probably

One caveat - I’m afraid our servers, as some of you are already painfully aware - are configured to kick anyone whose ping is consistently over 150 for a period of time, so that excludes anyone from far enough away or with a poor enough connection to not meet that criteria (sorry Coll). In the longer term, if we do this more than once, I might see if I can loosen that restriction for a future match of casual fun, but we’ll have to see about that. If you’re unsure what ping you would get on our servers (or you’re curious and looking for a cool place to hang out and play TF2  /advertisment) hit me up with a PM and I’ll give you the IP addresses so you can try them out.

I’d be up for it but not sure what my ping would be on all the servers I usually have decent ping for European servers because I’m on the East coast.

I’m keen to play.

So long as we dont play on your shitty clan server.

Well I’m definetly up for, it, needless to say.

We loos.

Anyway, I’m up for some looosing and maybe playing.

Patonki is gonna spam the mic as usual and TSG members are gonna give up without even playing.

Ah that’s what TSG stands for…

Oh this sounds nifty. I might join in if I’m around at the time

Well it depends on how good your TSG clan is. If they are l33t then its pointless because most of the BMS community players are probably average and will pretty much get owned. But if your clan is average then thats when it gets interesting

Well I’ve seen you in our servers before I’m sure and you were obviously ok or you’d have been kicked. Weren’t you my medic just the other night?

Sorry Coll, no other option really, since Team Walrus has no home server. Like I said, in the longer term I’ll see if it would be possible to get our rules relaxed on pings.

Not exactly ‘leet’. We have a few very good players but most are only fairly good and ours is not some kind of hardcore professional clan - we mainly play for fun. On the other hand, I don’t think you should underestimate the level of skill some of us here can muster. Many’s the time there have been a good mix of Team Walrus and TSG folks on the server at the same time and there hasn’t been some massive divide in skill levels. I think it would make for a pretty good match up, and anyway it’s just a bit of fun at the end of the day.

Right, since there’s obviously some interest I’ll get more into this later tonight. Watch this space.

yep that was me, just wanted to make sure if they are all localized around Britain I’ll have good ping and my connection is a bit iffy from time to time due to the fact I’m on a wireless router shared with 5 other computers.

I would, but Keresh madness convinced me that the server is probably too far away for my blazing fast internets to connect to.

Yeah why not. I just set TF2 to download. Bare in mind i’m awfull, but i play for fun. = ]

Why not, but I didn’t play TF2 before and I’m not sure how high is my ping.
So if you want some cannon fodder, I could try

I’m up for it, naturally. As long as there’s nothing stopping me using the soldier :’(
.

I’m up for it, if it’s not Scout day (which rarely is, with my shite aim and reflexes) I can always go Medic and just say “Well I did heal ya, it’s all your bloody fault if we failed.”

I’m up for it.
I just go whatever class is needed so as not to unbalance the team

I would try but my ping is probably way to high, being near the center of the US. I also stink at the game. :expressionless:
I’m also not a member of Team Walrus.

I’m up for squishing some puny clan with the might of Team Walrus.

I may join if time permits it. But it makes quite a while I havn’t played TF2.

If I can get a decent enough ping, I’ll give it a go… right now I’m on wireless, but I have a LAN cable, so I can connect it up and see if that allows me to maintain a connection.
